This is my favorite skillet. I use it all the time for just about anything. It was very easy to season and it hasn't been a problem keeping it that way over time. It's a nice weight - as expected for a case iron - and it's really great having the handles on the sides rather than one long handle. ***UPDATE after 2 years of regular use - July 2025*** I continue to love and highly recommend this Lodge 10" dual handle skillet for stovetop use. I use it very regularly since it is the perfect size for my family. Although the surface was pretty smooth when it was brand new, it has become slick and very smooth now after 2 years of use. If frying an egg for example, very little oil (about 1/4 tsp.) and a brush to spread it around is all that is needed. The lightness of this pan compared to the Lodge 10" skillet with 1 handle is definitely a bonus since it makes moving the pan around when full a breeze. ***Original review - July 2023*** I was looking for a Lodge 10" skillet with 2 small handles like this one instead of the traditional 1 longer handle - which I also have but will be giving to my daughter. So when I found this one, it looked perfect. My only doubt was that it was named a baker's skillet meaning it is meant only for baking. Some reviews also mentioned the lightness of this skillet when compared to the long handled one. After trying it on my stove several times over the past couple of days, I am happy to say that it behaves EXACTLY the same as the long handled version. I have had this skillet for a vouple of years now. It is my go to pan, better than any non stick and so versatile! I love the double handles too! From corn bread to chicken fajitas, bacon and eggs to burgers, this can do it all and do easy to clean afterwards! Just wash with a mild dish soap, or just hot water, dry, heat on stove and wipe with a little avocado oil and it is ready to use again! Read more
Fabulous - I washed it and put a thin coat of oil on it, then made cornbread with just a bit of extra oil inside the pan. The cornbread cooked evenly and slipped right out - no sticking! It came well seasoned and I’m so excited to use this all the time (for baking and stovetop, as it’s lighter and easier to lift with the two handles compared to my regular Lodge pan). I've been slowly replacing an old set of Circulon cookware that I've had since the early 90s. I decided to go with Lodge cast iron for the skillets because, with proper seasoning, they are non-stick and can also be used for acidic foods. However, I found that the Lodge 12" pan I purchased a few years ago is way too heavy to lift with one hand, especially when it's hot and filled with ingredients. The size is also a bit too large when cooking for just two people. Thanks to Black Friday I was able to snag this 10.25" Lodge Cast Iron Baker's Skillet. What a difference 1.75" makes. {wink} It's the perfect size and weight, has two handles so it can easily be transported to the oven or the sink, and I LOVE that it came with a glass lid. As Goldilocks said, it's just right! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because Lodge claims their pans are pre-seasoned. While they may have seasoned it a little, the pan was in no way ready to fry an egg. Even with a bit of butter fat in the pan my egg was a hot comical disaster! It's probably common sense to people who are more familiar with cast iron, but it didn't even occur to me that it wouldn't be good straight out of the box. Lesson learned: Always do several rounds of seasoning before using a new cast iron pan! Read more
