Logitech NEW Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 Cameras Frames

I chose this cam because I trust Logitech and I liked some of the other reviews. I had an old web cam from Intel that I liked because it had an RCA jack that allowed me to attach my video camera and use it as a web cam. When I upgraded my home Machine to a 64 bit Window 7 system I was not able to get a driver for the old Intel cam. When I received this Logitech cam I installed it in a matter of minutes with no problems. I installed everything but I don't use Logitech Vid because I like using Skype. I frequently make video calls to Russia because I used to work there and like to keep in touch with friends. The first time I made a call with this cam my friend asked if I got a new cam because he noticed the picture quality was much better. Before I got this cam I was using my XP laptop cam or sometimes the Intel cam on my laptop. My friends said this video quality was much better than before. There are some features like face recognition and filters which I don't use on the cam so I cannot rate them. When making calls I found the device easy to use. The people I talked to said they could hear me perfectly and the video was great. I don't use a head set when I make calls. I have the cam mounted on top of a monitor and I listen through the system speakers. I didn't get any feedback noise at all. I was about three feet away from the mic when I spoke and the speakers were set fairly loud. One feature I did use was the cam control panel. There I was able to zoom and change the cam angle. The zoom is very good but the pan feature is limited. I found I couldn't pan left and right very far. I took a couple of snap shots and made some videos with the cam and the quality was very good. The universal clip worked good when I tried it in several positions. I used it as a stand to set on the desk and I tried it hanging on the monitor. I have three monitors on my computer and the clip works great on the Gateway LCD monitor but the other two are larger Samsung TV/monitors and are kind of thick and the clip would not fit on them. I think for the average monitor this clip would be fine. On the desk it feels sturdy but you may want to use something so it won't slide so easy on smooth desk surfaces. Overall I would recommend this cam. I wouldn't say I am a power user when it comes to web cams, I just use it to make video calls and maybe take some photos. All the features I have used worked with no trouble. I have not tried to connect it to my older XP system so I can't verify if any of the install problems I read about are true. I purchased the Logitech 1080p c910 as a replacement for the less-than-pleasant webcam on my netbook. The Logitech c910 quite readily exceeded my expectations. Quality is excellent for both still photo and video. The autofocus feature is wonderful, and has the nice benefit of adding a little bit of depth-of-field effects when you're up close (basically, your face is focused and sharp while the background is a little blurry). The added software works well, although I prefer to use Picasa. The camera is quite a steal for $70. The only thing to be mindful of is your computer's capabilities. If you have a netbook like I do, you will be unable to effectively use the higher resolutions for video because your computer will most likely simply not have enough power to handle the high volume of data required. On a netbook, Skype should be okay at middle resolutions, say about 800x600 or so, but any higher and you're liable to encounter a fair amount of stuttering. Recording high-resolution with the c910 on a netbook is fairly discouraging. I was unable to get anything close to smooth video any higher than 640x480 resolution or so, and even that had the occasional stutter. Again, the problem is not the camera, but the netbook. (for your reference, my netbook is a Lenovo s10-3t, which has an Intel Atom N455 1.6 GHz processor; it runs Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, and has 2gb of ram) Because the webcam's image quality is so good, and because it has the ability to focus on things which are quite close to it, I have found an unexpected use for it: digitizing old photographs into the computer. While certainly a scanner is the best option, there are some photographs which do not scan well, such as those printed on textured photo paper. For these, I use the c910. Just set the photo on a flat surface, place some diffused lights at about a 45 degree angle on either side, place the c910 on a steady surface, and snap away!
