I think it's a good black dress for winter styles. It is very thin, but with a nice coat and some fleece tights you'll be fine. The material isn't super nice quality, but I don't find it itchy or bothersome (and I'm usually really picky about materials). It is a ribbed material which makes it look kinda cheap.
