Atra blades DO fit, if you spend a little time and finesse it

For what it is, this is a very good razor handle. I was concerned, when researching it, that other buyers found that it did not fit Atra blades. This was my sole purpose in buying it. This razor DOES fit Atra-style blades from Personna. It is a very tight fit however, but it does not effect the swivel action of the blade. The trick is to hook one side first. This allows the handles connect mechanism to slide down a tad and then engage the other hook. It is a bit tricky, but it works. The handle itself has a solid but light feel to it. The blade pivot is just right and my first shave was excellent. The primary advantage of this setup is that the blades are inexpensive enough to not worry about frequently switching to a new blade and thereby always having a sharp one. I found the blades (Personna brand) priced at $13 for 100. I prefer the double blades to keep a clean beard line. This is far superior to the multi-blade (3 or more) that seems to be the fashion. I also use a double-edge Merkur razor and a Feather SS straight razor, but I save those for a leisurely shaving ritual when I have the time to enjoy them. For an early morning quick shave, this Atra-equivalent is perfect. Read more

Works fine, short-lived

The handle works fine with Atra blades. But I've had two of them, and they've lasted about six months each. Then the handle won't hold the blade anymore. I'm going to try a more expensive handle and see if it lasts longer. Read more

★★★☆☆

Sturdy handle, dull blades.

The handle seems to be sturdy and has metal components to hold the blades. The blades that come with the handle were the dullest I have ever used and basically massacred my face. Read more
