I didn't think this would do much for my car, but I was wrong! It didn't fix the issue my trans was having, but it did improve it helping me narrow down the list of things that could have been wrong with my trans. My 98 civic was shifting hard from first to second and would shudder when cruising between 20 and 50mph. both problems diminished immediately after putting this in leading me to believe that when my car overheated recently (just before problems started), I likely burnt my trans fluid and coated the inside of my trans with varnish. Now I know how to fix my car and will use the rest of this bottle when I change my fluid. Would buy again! Edit 9-9-2015: The shudder came back after a few weeks. I bought the Platinum version at a brick and mortar along with the dr. tranny instant shudder fix. This also helped for a little while. I finally broke down and bought a gallon of atf to do the first fluid change and now the problem is gone. I attribute this to having this additive in there to help the new fluid work better. I still have the rest of this bottle and Intend to put it in with the next, and final fluid change to do my 98 civic the way it's supposed to be done according to Honda. The hard shift never came back, though. I believe this product (and the other two by the same company) is directly responsible for my trans not taking a dirt nap when I changed the fluid like the majority of high-mileage cars I've changed the trans fluid on. Wish it would have fixed the issue of my trans slamming into gear when I push the gas before I come to a complete stop, but that's probably a product of the 261,000+ miles it has driven and not something that a fluid additive will fix. That's another story. Bottom line: I would absolutely buy this again and may actually buy another bottle to put in just to be sure that my trans fluid is good. I added a star because this stuff does what it is supposed to! Read more

Fixed the transmission issues I was having with my fj80. Completely stopped slip from 2nd to 3rd and make shuttering much better. Overall great quality and would recommend to try instead of a rebuild. Read more

Shifts pretty well now, here is the history for 2nd Gen odyssey people: Just got this van from friend of the family, 177k miles, rebuilt tranny installed at 105k. Fluid was ATF-Z1, changed at 145K to unspecified fluid at honda dealer. It shifted very well, but I was concerned about the fluid in it, and the longevity of the transmission. I changed the fluid (drain and filled) to Amsoil signature series multi vehicle ATF 2x, I could tell the shifts were getting harsher, which I was expecting. The third drain and fill, I put in a bottle of lubegard black, and now the shifts aren't quite as good as the Honda fluid, but they're good, and I'm hoping the amsoil and lubegard combination will prevent the tranny from needing another rebuild down the road. Lubegard pretty well known as the better of the tranny additives. I've seen my transmission shop use the red and black bottles for years. Did a full trans service on my 2005 4runner, dropped pan, flushed lines, used amsoil synthetic as a refill. Yota trannys are "touchy" especially at 200k miles. She didn't like the fresh fluid and the converter shuddered at 1k-1500rpm in 5th gear. A typical shudder response after a flush. The new fluid has detergents and sometimes needs an additive to help the converter not slip. Put a bottle of this in, she settled down after about 500 miles. Read more

When my father had a transmission shop we’d use this. And many years ago you could only buy this if you owned a mechanic shop. This one the Black bottle is for Plymouth, Chrysler, Dodge. The red bottle we would use for GM and the green bottle for Ford. When we would change transmission fluid and filters we would add a bottle of lubegard first then fill with transmission fluid. It doesn’t work instantly a 100 miles or so and you will feel a difference. It really works and does extend the life of your fluid and transmission. Drop the pan, change fluid and filter or drain and fill on some of the newer vehicle's that the transmission has to come out of the car to change the filter ! And remember never do a transmission flush because you can backwash the filter and metal will travel through the unit and ruin the transmission. Many quick lube places recommend this because when you change the transmission fluid not all of it comes out like when you change your motor oil. Don't do it, I have seen a lot of cars in my Fathers shop because of a transmission flush !!! Read more

I recently tried the Lubegard 61910 Highly Friction Modified ATF Supplement (10 oz.) in hopes of improving my car’s transmission performance. My primary goal was to smooth out shifting and stop the occasional slipping. Initial Expectations: Based on the product description and positive reviews, I expected this supplement to make a noticeable difference in my transmission's behavior. The promise of enhanced performance and reduced slipping seemed like an ideal solution for my vehicle's issues. Usage and Results: I added the recommended amount to my transmission fluid and drove for over 1000 miles, giving the product ample time to take effect. Unfortunately, the results were underwhelming. My car’s transmission still slips a few times a day, and there hasn’t been any significant improvement in the smoothness of shifting. The occasional slipping remains a problem, and the overall performance of the transmission feels largely unchanged. While it may work for some, it did not address the issues in my vehicle, leaving me disappointed with the results. Read more
