You have to put the battery in it for it to works, they give you the battery you need for it to turn on... it works well for now, however my family will be going to the airport soon, so i will know if the measurements of the units is accurate! Just got back from a vacation where this thing was put to the test. We were bringing two suitcases one small and one large, so we had to play the game of keeping the weight below 50lbs. The smaller suitcase had the more dense but smaller items, and we fit the lighter but more quantity into the big suitcase. Having this to weigh our bags before getting to the airport relieved so much stress. Once we got to the airport and put the bags on the scale, it provided that this device was very accurate. We weighed our big suitcase in the hotel at 41-42 lbs. When we got to the airport and put it on the bag drop scale they read 43 lbs. Not exact, but a very good idea of the weight of your bag. This is going to be a lifesaver on trips! It also came with an battery which is an additional plus, as they are not AA/AAA so unless you have 2032s sitting around you'd need to get those too. You can measure in pounds lbs or Kg, there is also a temperature readout F and C, although I'm not sure of the uses of that for a luggage weight. This is great. We got charged $109 at the airport the last trip we went on for being 7 pounds overweight. They didn't offer for us to take some stuff out, just told us to check it in again so it could be labeled "heavy" and then didn't give us a choice. So we vowed to never let it happen again. Bought this so we can weigh our luggage at home and know ahead of time if we need to move some things around. It's very simple to use, instructions are clear and easy to follow. There's weight in pounds and kilos, also has a temperature setting on it, I guess so if you're transporting temperature dependent items? I would have given 5 stars but the hook it came with is not shaped properly. It's a fluke I'm sure, the one pictured shows a completed triangle shape so that the strap makes a loop around the luggage handle. I managed to make it work but that was on a lighter object. Idk how it will hold up with a larger object. It does feel cheaply made, which reflects the price. But it's small enough to throw in your bag or closet.
