Wow! This is an awesome instrument for any beginner wanting to dip their toes into the world of harp without paying $4,000 for a full size one. The 15 strings type is perfect for any tuning giving you two full octaves of any key you want to tune so you "never hit a wrong note". Lol it sounds really good and is so soothing to just chill and plink on. At first it's frustrating cuz it takes the nylon strings a while to stretch til they stay in tune. It took me tuning quite a few times over and over every day and by day four it is now in perfect tune and holds there nicely. Highly recommend! Read more

I read a lot of reviews before buying this. Happily, I received a beautiful instrument, great condition, with the strings properly loose for shipping. My main concern was regarding the strings snapping, as I read about so many issues with this. I did not have this issue, so I thought I would explain my method of tuning. As we had a cold snap come through, I unboxed the lyre and waited 4 hours to make sure it was room temperature. Then I tuned each string one octave below what it should be (C3 instead of C4) and left it overnight to give the strings time to stretch. The next day, I tuned the strings up to the correct octave, but one note below what it should be (B4 instead of C4) as the strings felt pretty tight and let it rest for a few hours. Then I tuned it to the proper notes. It is really important to do miniscule turns when tuning. I would also tune a little then gently press down on the strings to gently stretch them and repeat. One day later, I have only had to tune a few strings in the tiniest bit. It seems to be holding its tuning pretty well. I am glad I took the time to go slow...no popped strings! It sounds beautiful and is fun to play! Read more

It’s great for a starter lyre. It holds together well and sounds nice. Fickle to tune, and the pegs will slip in short time. So you practice tuning often. 😉 Read more

Love my new lyre. My only gripe is that it is so difficult to find a good quality lyre with the base strings to the left. That said, like others I had to tune a few times at first, but this lyre is now holding a tune. Tune gently and you will be fine. Love this lyre and would purchase again. Read more

This was an unexpected Christmas present from my wife. I never thought I would play an instrument I love more than the guitar. The lyre is open ended, depending on pattern expression more than structure. It is transcendent, and this, for the price sounds like it cost easily two or three times more. It is *so* easy to play. I actually tried to make it sound bad, and I couldn't do it. The trick is to nail the tuning. I spent around 20 minutes tuning it because it requires a wrench, so there's no sensitivity from your fingertips like when you tune a guitar or a violin. Buy this. You won't be sorry. Read more

Ive had so many issues tuning this lyre and once I tuned it ,it would immediately get out of tune. Great for a beginner instrument to get a hang off the notes and chords but just really difficult to keep tuned to the correct notes. Made of good quality materials Read more
