We have a small bathroom with no windows. Socket where we placed one of the two nightlights is on our wall toward which the door opens. Light switch is on the opposite side of the door and on the same wall as the door. Whenever we turn on the ceiling light before entering the bathroom, the night light remains off. Whereas, if we were to enter without turning on the ceiling light, the night light turns on. You can set the duration that the light remains on from 60 to 120 seconds. As well, adjust the brightness and choose to face the light toward the room or toward the wall for softer indirect lighting. Very happy with this nightlight. It is perfect for our application. I’m that girl that doesn’t like being in the dark and would always leave the kitchen light on at night, so these nightlights have been great!! I no longer have to leave the light on and can have light always!! They work great with turning on once it detects the motion and stays on for awhile afterwards which is nice!! It also has an on / off switch which is nice, and you can control the time it’s on for. I like that they are pretty compact and don’t look gaudy on the wall! I think these are worth the price too! Bought for my senior dog who wonders at night. She loves it and has less "bumpy" accidents. Turns out it's great for me... especially after I take my eye contacts out, too. 😀 Considering that it was a cheap price, it has lots of great functions. It accommodates my husband's light sensitivity because it has different brightness levels and rotates a bit to face the wall. A quality motion-sensing night light at a reasonable price. It is small enough to fit under low cupboards, looks modern, and the feature that allows the light itself to be turned inward toward a wall or outward is convenient when you're looking for softer lighting.
