The dock/hub is well made. Solid construction, aluminum materials. The dock is also well ventilated on the side to allow the Mac Mini to remain cool during normal operation. The number of and variety of ports is great. Versatile and convenient. The NVMe SSD enclosure works great and is quite fast. In terms of performance it is difficult if not impossible to perceive any difference between the internal Mac Mini drive and the NVMe SSD in the dock. I am sure that they would differ in speed/performance if proper benchmarks are run, but, from a usability standpoint, I discern no difference in response or speed between the two. So that is a big plus. The only improvement I would suggest (but not worthy of deducting any stars) is that they improve the physical connection between the dock and the Mac Mini. They are not fastened to each other in any mechanical way. The dock relies on the weight of the Mac Mini to remain stable. However, if you pull on a cable or move the dock in any way the Mac Mini at times will 'shuffle' a bit and that will require you to realign them. Let’s face it, the Mac Mini doesn’t have enough ports. And adding a bunch of hubs just looks ugly and makes a mess. I was so happy to find this because I just needed MORE! I also needed more storage, and I didn’t want to need an external enclosure. That’s what really got me to buy this product. You can install an NVME stick in the base and have it go as fast as it would if it were installed inside the Mac Mini. I have all of the ports that I need now and then some. I have no complaints at all. It looks great stacked under the Mini and it gives great airflow - so it probably works even better with it than without. It also looks really good stacked, as the metal colors match! I didn’t have enough ports before, but now I have more than I need so it’s future proof for a little while. I have no complaints. I got this mainly for an external M.2 hub for my M4 Mac Mini. As it only comes with a measly overpriced 256gb internally. So far its been great fro that. The mac doesn't the dock very well. It kind of slides around in there but that's not a big deal for me. Its a tool and not for looks. I assume if you don't have it on an incline and the place you put it doesn't get knocked around much, it'll stay put. Could maybe get some rubber pads to keep it in place perhaps. Would be nice if those was built in to the dock. I am a bit disappointed my usb switch will not connect with the dock. That was another reason I got this. So I didnt have to use a usb-c to usb-a adapter. I did successfully get a flash drive to work in the USB A ports. So they do work, just not fully compatible with my usb switch for what ever reason. So be wary of that. I tested both the Full SD and Micro SD and both worked and was able to play a 4k video off them. I could not figure out how the headphone jack worked. You may need to configure it somehow. I dont plan on using it. The HDMI worked fine. All in all I'm happy with the dock. As a side note, I'm a new mac mini owner so I don't know how hot it gets on its own but it feels a bit warm to me. I couldn't imagine this dock blocking too much air. It does constrict air flow a bit just by looking at the area air has to get to it through the slots. This is just my assumption and like I said, I'm not familiar with the temp of this things normally. Tried to find the cpu temp but I'm no mac user so ill need to figure that out sorry. This dock has been a great upgrade for my Mac mini M4. I enjoy that it has plenty of ventilation so the Mini stays cool on my desk. I can plug so many things into it without needing extra adapters, which keeps everything simple and organized. I like that I can still use USB A for my Logitech keyboard and mouse dock with no problem. The NVMe slot is amazing. I tripled my storage capacity and I am also running Time Machine from it, so everything is fast and self-contained. This is how the Mini should have come from the factory. They should call this the Mini PRO dock. The second HDMI slot lets me run a second monitor, which is very useful. I plugged my speakers into the rear audio port and still have a headphone jack up front for easy access. It has not affected my Wi-Fi speed, which was something I was watching for. The price is very fair for what you get. I am recommending it to my Mac mini friends and family because it solves several problems at once and keeps the desk clean.
