I ordered these shorts for one reason: they have TWO zipper pockets. As a roller coaster enthusiast, this is THE number one characteristic that I look for in a pair of pants. In hindsight, I think I'll end up using them for a different purpose than I had initially ordered them for. That's my fault for not understanding what I was ordering. These are *athletic* shorts - and that's not a generic stylistic indicator, that means they are optimized for exercise. The 5 inch inseam means that these shorts are very short. Fine for lounging around the house, great for exercise, not something I'd spend 10 hours in public at a theme park in. Still, the shorts are very comfortable. My wife thought they looked really great on me, and those two characteristics are the highest bar that any clothing item can clear. I'm not a super athletic person myself, but the zipper pockets seem like they would be really great for a runner. The pockets are roomy, and I did test out putting my phone in one and my keys and wallet in the other, which is my usual "theme park" configuration. Pockets are plenty roomy enough for that. The waist runs very true to stated size and is stretchy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend these for around-the-house or athletic use. I would not recommend them as the theme park shorts that I'd hoped they would be, unless you are comfortable wearing very short athletic shorts out and about for extended periods. I am 6'2" and 230lbs. I wear a size 38 short. Usually, I wear an XL in shorts and underwear. That would not have worked here. Luckily, I read the size chart. These are abnormally sized. My waist on the size chart said XXL was correct. It did fit well. The material is thin. This could be viewed as a pro or con depending on what you want. Overall, it just feels kind of cheap to me, certainly not bad, but these are not some budget premium item. They are just very basic shorts. The material is 100% polyester. It has some stretch to it. The drawstrings are external and have cheap plastic aglets on their ends. The price seems high for the quality. At a warehouse club, you can get name brands for cheaper. There isn't enough here in my opinion to warrant the price of $20. There is no special fabric. There is no wide, comfy waistband. There are not metal aglets on the thin drawstrings. They are an okay value perhaps, but they are not high value. The color is more subdued in real life than in the photos. They still look fine. Overall, they are decent shorts. They are pretty light and airy. I have no major issues since I was able to order correctly despite the non-standard sizing. I'll give them four stars since they worked for me. Those that fail to realize the sizing is off are going to be unhappy. Read more
