UPDATED REVIEW on 11/15/13: We hooked it up to a 21" inch RCA TV that we purchased in 1997 so it works with older TV's. However, we just hooked it up and the DVD player part died and stopped working in less than a month of operation. I can't recommend this one. Buyer, Be Ware!!! Original review before use. We bought this for the hundreds of VHS movies we have and can't/won't purchase in DVD format. The price was great here and the item works as it should. We have no issues to complain about, except for the fact that the RF cable to hook it up to the tv is not included and the seller's listing is a bit ambigious on that matter. Otherwise, we have no complaints. Our first VCR player we ever had was a Magnavox and that lasted for 11 years before it ever needed a repair;that impressed the service guy. Unfortunately, once it needed that repair, it could not be repaired back to its original market state and we had to replace it. We've been buying a combo player ever since every few years when the previous one died. Our Sanyo one just died in a long distance move, which prompted us to purchase this one. It's easy to use, a basic model that does the job we bought it for. Thanks to the supplier for refurbishing them, or we'd be lost and would never get to see another one of our VHS movies. When we ordered this through Amazon, we contacted the seller, EZ-Surplus and asked for a copy of the owner's manual. A copy of it was in the box with it when it arrived. This product is a basic but easy to use unit for a resident of a nursing home. The video and audio are fine and the dual use for both VHS and DVD is perfect. He's able to enjoy all his old and new recordings. Read more

This worked great for a couple of weeks but the other day the DVD player quit working. We are hoping it just needs cleaning . So I have ordered a DVD cleaner. Hopefully that will fix the problem Read more

I am an empty nester Mom with a ton of old movies on VHS and DVD. My old video players were taken by my kids as they moved out on their own. I found myself with a collection of movie memories I could no longer enjoy. Because this item is very antiquated, there aren’t many available if any in the stores. I was very pleased that I was able to find this online, but did notice that the price of these had gone up quite a bit from what they used to be. Maybe because of the limited supply? Received it 'exactly' as the seller described it. My problem (not sellers) is I've been away from the technology for about 6+ years and was unaware that everything has to have a CODE to use this piece of equipment with say a Visio LCD TV which meant I'd need a CODE for the Visio as well. While everything is 'not' working off one remote, it functions wonderfully. It has thus far been an exceptional purchase. Read more

I am well pleased with this DVD/VCR combo. It works and looks like it is Brand New. I bought it because it is an exact duplicate of an old one that I liked so much. I also use the tuner to change channels with on my old analog TV. I just cannot see buying a digital TV yet when my old big screen TV console was in storage forever while in the U.S. Navy so many years. I love this Magnavox combo player because it makes it easy for transferring VHS to DVD discs. This player also came with a cleaning kit, a VHS cleaning tape, a DVD lens cleaner disc, and extra cable connections. The guy from The Bargain Wizard really came through and then some. Read more
