Great device but BE CAREFUL with the mounting plate!
This is actually about a 4.5 star review. The product is amazingly sturdy and very well made. The instructions are excellent and easy to follow. We have a leather covering on our dash and the recommendation was to use the mounting plastic plate which comes with the holder. Just a word of warning regarding using the mounting plate - if you DO use it, you had better be sure you don't want to disengage your magnetic holder for some other use somewhere else, because the only way you're going to separate the plastic mounting plate from the magnetic holder is with a screwdriver or dynamite! I tried to move the phone holder a bit and the mounting plate came off the dash with it! I put it back quickly and it has remained in it's new position, but the adhesive quality of the bottom surface of the phone holder on the smooth surface of the mounting plate creates an amazingly strong bond! Forget about having to use the vacuum screw-down - I didn't find it necessary. All in all, the unit lives up to expectations, and I highly recommend it! Read more
