Good for PT

Great device, comfortable and works as expected! Ignore what the other reviews say about it not being enough resistance if you want to use it for PT. I think if you’re just looking for heavy resistance, wrist curls with heavy weights would be better. For me it was perfect for exercising my injured wrist Read more

this really works!

overview - during the corona shutdown, I had to start working out at home - I bought parallel dipping bars, a head harness (neck exercises) and this Marcy forearm developer - I hadn't seen this offered anywhere before amazon - reading the reviews, some other buyers said it didn't have enough resistance - so, I bought one and tried it out - this indeed has ample resistance - you can set the range from light to heavy - also the grip distance - I am not using the full max setting - I do 50 reps on the 1st set - then 30 more reps on the 2nd set, with a 3.5 out of 5 setting - believe me, you will 'feel the burn' after working out with these - I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd unit to workout both arms at the same time - I can install and remove both of these units myself - I'm 6'2" and 230 lbs and in excellant physical shape - and these are well matched to my strength level, which should be just fine for most other people - these are big, so smaller arms may not fit comfortably - pros - plenty of variable resistance - padded contact areas - adjustable grip distance - well made, don't feel cheap or breakable - decent price at $20 (I bought 2) - intense forearm and wrist workout! cons - after over a weeks use, I have no negative comments - I highly recommend these to any serious power builder - Read more

Not Shabby At All, but With Caveats.

This isn’t bad for the price. It’s fairly comfortable and it is easy to use; however, like another reviewer stated it does not adjust enough to be much of a challenge for many men. This is absolutely great for women, for older men and women, and for young teenagers until they become a bit too strong for it. This is also EXCELLENT for people who are rehabbing an injury to the forearm, wrist, and/or hand. Even though it doesn’t have the tension required for young to middle-aged men (I’m 46 myself) it DOES work and you can feel a good burn when you do a lot of reps. Set the tension to the tightest setting and do about thirty reps and you will feel your forearms burning. You can use this while you’re watching a movie or reading a book or doing anything that doesn’t require two hands (keep your mind outta the gutter!) and while the tension isn’t fantastic for most men, and certainly a few women, it can be set high enough to give your fingers a good workout. I’m probably going to order a second one so I can just work both forearms, wrists, and fingers at the same time while watching a movie. And if you put on a movie and use this the entire time of the film you WILL feel it working. This will not be good for people who are either very obese (sorry, but at least I’m saving you $25 and saving you from having to return it) or ridiculously muscular forearms because there’s not much room in there. If you take a look at the pictures I took for this review you’ll see that there’s not much wiggle-room in there. I’m a 6’ tall man (or at least I was; now I’m more like a 5’11 cripple with terrible posture) and I weigh about 210lbs with about the average amount of muscle a man my age who is only a casual lifter would have. Like I said earlier it’s not shabby and I actually kinda like it; I just wish that it had two or three times more tension. Read more

Classic Grip Builder—Still Delivers After All These Years.

I had one of these several years ago when I played softball, and it was a staple in my training routine. If you remember, Nolan Ryan endorsed it back in the day—which gave it instant credibility. And for good reason: it’s fantastic for building forearm strength and grip endurance. I’m pretty sure my original one is still tucked away in a tote in the garage. The Marcy Wrist and Forearm Developer hasn’t lost its edge. The resistance is solid, the motion is smooth, and it targets exactly what it promises. I’ve added it back into my workout routine now that I’ve regained strength, and it’s just as effective as I remember. That said, it might not be the best choice for someone who’s lost a lot of strength and is trying to rebuild. Even the lower settings feel pretty heavy, so it’s better suited for maintenance or progression rather than rehab. If you’re looking for a compact, reliable tool to level up your grip game—and you’ve got some strength already—this one’s a classic that still delivers. Read more

Works good, but hand grip constantly comes loose

I have heard this for over a year now and my chief complaint is that the little screw for the hand grip comes undone after every single set you have to constantly type and adjust it or else it comes loose. I’m not sure. However everyone gives us such a good review with this being glaring problem with it ultimately, it doesn’t totally ruin the workout for me to tighten it it back up- but I do find it annoying enough to deduct a star or two Read more
