I needed a drive and was in a hurry. Installed into a Synology NAS and it has been running smoothly for a week now. I have used MDD drives for some time. They all have been good except the 14TB NAS series, they have not lasted a day. Two didn't go 30 seconds. I like the price and have older and smaller drives in NAS devices that are years old. Just outside 90-day windows the drive is now dead. Amazon will not accept return, replacement or refund. When googling the manufacturer (MDD) I see I was mistaken to order this drive as it is pretty common these die fast and customer service is poor to non existing. Read more

I purchased 4 of these in April 2024 and have been using them in a software RAID 6 configuration for my personal media server at home. Within two weeks of purchase one of the drives failed. The company promptly sent me a new one within a few days once I sent them the bad unit. I then rebuilt the RAID array and have run flawlessly for five months with no further failures. To be fair, I suspected one of the drives was bad when I first turned on the disk because it was making an odd clicking sound. All in all, I am very happy with price and performance for my needs since it's just personal media. Note that I would never use drives like this in a production business environment. That said I am very happy with these drives and will purchase more to keep as shelf spares and to grow my 8-bay RAID 6 stack. Read more
I have read a number of articles about the company and the product. At first I was concerned, especially when the first disk drive arrived DOA. The response from the vendor was surprisingly outstanding and the speed of which replacement was impressive. Read more
I ordered two of these. First one arrived and would click and not detect in multiple systems (DOA). Second one arrived with a sizeable dent in the top of it and I didn't feel comfortable using it based on the first one arriving DOA. I don't recommend these. Read more
