Fans not turning - Update

We installed two of these on our 40’ container, set the angle of the solar panels. The fans will not turn, not sure what to do. I still have moisture int container. Update: took the solar panel loose from the unit and added wire to extend it to the end of the container, these solar panels can not have ANY obstructions or they will not produce enough voltage to run the fan. My exp with other solar panels didn’t require FULL sun to operate. At the moment the fan is running, will have to extend the wire on the other fan so I can get it to work. I would recommend having the ability to mount these solar panels remote to operate the fan, to accommodate any type of shade. Read more

No longer working

Not sure what the life expectancy is but just shy of 3 years the fan longer runs. My guess the fan is not longer functional. I doubt the solar power source is the issue as there is no battery or moving parts. Panel is clean and in full sun. Fan spins freely but will not run. For the cost I was hoping to get more time using this. Good thin I kept the cut out of the container so I can weld it back in. Off to find a new option for air movement. Read more

Perfect fit. Great design. Now I want a second one…

First of all, finding the right vent for your shipping container can be difficult. This is as close to perfection without fabricating something yourself. Once I saw how it straddled the roof ribs, I knew the design was great. It does come with a black rubber gasket. I wanted a hard mount so I did not use the gasket but created my own with gray Sika Flex Polyurethane Sealant from the orange or blue big box store. The calking tube of sealant cost under $10. I traced out the cut out space using the supplied gasket as a template. I then mocked up the mount and put the screws in with the supplied self tappers. After removing the mount and screws and cleaned out all the chips under the mount. Next I sanded the container roof mounting area to get a clean good bond. Sprayed the bare metal with etching primer. After it the paint dried, I put down beads of Sika Flex and mounted everything up. Perfect fit. Worked so well, now I want a second roof vent for the shipping container. This will help keep the heat from building up in your container and keep the air moving. I have done similar mounts on boats and always use Sika Flex. Never had a leak due to a bad seal. Read more
