The media could not be loaded. I've the cardboard as a mallet holder, in the picture; it does not come with a different one. It sounds great. But, if you hit it just right, it can scare your ears. I just needed something to say. Sounds can clash. But, on this one, you can almost hit anything on there. And, it will sound nice. If it's quiet, you're talking about holding the mallets loosely so they bounce back. It has another tone, in the top-center, which is softer. There is a little something below some of the etches; they are, also, softer. It sounds, mostly, like oriental music and a church bell, which in this case, I like and find it energetic and peaceful. Maybe if they threw a little crossbody case to justify the price...it comes with a velvet pouch.For such a marvelous little gem of a tongue drum, finishing the product with a better way to take with will make costumers happy. This drum has such a beautiful ethereal sound. I was seaching for an affordable moon tuned instrument that anyone could play. This is perfect! My children age 6 and 2 love it and it is so calming. I purchased this for use in sound healing and i could not be more pleased. There are a lot of gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing drums that can be bought cheaper, but it was important ti me for it to be tuned planetarilly and to the moon specifically. Meinl is a great company, and I have another tongue drum from them which is wonderful. This one, not much so. The two short tongues on the drum are dead. You can barely hear them and they do not resonate, which leaves me six tongues that sound okay. This is in the Akebono scale, so I was looking forward to this item. But for over $300 that I paid plus tax, it's a big disappointment and going back. Meinl goofed on this product. They need to do something about those defective two short tongues. Read more
