As comfortable as slippers with tremendous traction and excellent ankle support. I only wore these once around the neighborhood to break in before a 4-day backpacking trip in a remote section of the AZ desert (yes, procrastination). Coupled with Injinji Crew Toesocks liner under Anlisim Merino Wool Hiking socks, had zero blisters and discomfort over rough, rocky terrain and steep climbs. These do not fit like other models of merrell boots. I've been a customer of this brand for over a decade and these and the hard toed work boots are by far the least comfortable of all of the boot models I have tried including hiking, leather knee high, and cold weather boots. These are great for hiking! Supportive, lightweight, durable and nice neutral color. I bought them for a trip to New Zealand where I would be going to various hiking locations. Great height to prevent rocks entering shoe- no complaint. I usually need to ditch my shoes in other countries to make room for various purchased items... and these I wouldn't dare part with!
