I broke the pinky finger on my left hand In two places. I bought this to wear after going to the walk-in clinic but before seeing the orthopedic doctor six days later (it took too long to get the referral). The ortho doctor said that this brace holds the pinky finger perfectly straight. But, because of how my finger broke, they wanted the joint right behind my nail to be perfectly straight and they wanted the next joint to be held at a 45 degree angle. The doctor’s staff cut and bent a custom splint that holds my finger properly. This brace has metal inside of it to hold your finger securely and protect it. But, I don’t think it’s designed to be bent as I needed for my situation. So, I recommend that you buy this if your doctor or medical person has recommended it. Size: L/XL A helpful device that will give your metacarpal area a rest. That rest is essential for calming down and soothing the pain that you might be suffering due to overuse. This is a very easy piece to use. Comes with very clear instructions, with photos, to explain and show you how to use. It's actually rather intuitive, but helpful for the first time you go to use this. It's made well and offers you just the support that you need to protect that area of your hand and wrist. Though this comes in two different sizes, it's really easy to fit for just about all sizes. Normally, I would opt for a medium. For some reason, I received the L/XL. Even though the S/M might be the better size for my hand, this L/XL certainly does the trick too. So don't fret too hard about which one to choose if you tend to fall in that middle range. No doubt, either will work just as well for your needs. The only downside to this, and it's not a flaw by any stretch of the imagination, is that you can't type while wearing this.
