Handy size
I already had one for fine grating and just added this one. It's very sharp and must be used with care but the design makes it easy to use, and size/shape makes it easy to fit in dishwasher and store in a drawer. Read more

Quick and easy to use
Do you get tired of getting out the old 4-sided grater, grating your knuckles and then having to reach up inside of it to clean cheese or whatever from all 4 sides? This handy handheld grater eliminates all those hassles. The handle is sturdy and well made, does not bend or bow during use. There is a slide on cover to protect the grater and your hands when reaching into the utensil drawer. Read more
Is this really a Microplane?
Even though it has the Microplane name it is the poorest version I have owned and I have bought and used many Microplane graters. It has the sharpness but has a lot of hidden crevasses where cheese gets in while grating and is almost impossible to clean out. It is also much smaller a grating surface than is obvious from the pictures. Since it wasn't overly expensive and does have a good grate output I can give three stars but I would never buy this model again. Read more

Firm hold for arthritic hands
So far, I have used this microplane for cheese, because it issues the size shred I want. It is also good for carrots. You can steady it over cup or a small bowl, or you can press it against the bottom side of a straight/sided container and exert even pressure to get the quantity you want with very little slide.
