This Mid-century Modern Coffee Table is stated to be from a design Period when function was mixed with elegance. Clean lines, less decoration and organic shapes were in vogue. I agree with that description regarding this table. It has a simplistic and minimalistic low key subtly elegant style. It has a soft black, polished appearance. It is made of wood and has a soft somewhat triangular shape. It is essentially made of 3 distinct pieces; when assembled, It is 39x27x16 inches. The wood feels solid and is of a reasonably good quality. The pieces feel sturdy and their surface is smooth and unflawed. The weight is 28 pounds and the weight bearing load potential is 360 pounds. Overall view: the quality is good, and the table appears durable. However, the true value may not be entirely consistent with the quoted monetary value. The instructions which are necessary to put the table together are provided on a roughly 4x6 sheet of poor quality paper. The sheet is covered with low resolution black and white images that appear to be photocopies and not from originals. The printed information is almost childlike in some areas. These instructions make assembly more difficult than it needs to be. The redeeming characteristic is, that with some effort, the table can be put together. Once it is together it looks good. The true issue related to value is that the tabletop sits on top of the legs. The screws in the tabletop connect with the legs but are not screwed into the legs. Bottom line: once assembled the table top can be completely lifted off of the legs at any time. If you should lean on the long side of the table ( the side closest to the couch) the opposite side of the table will lift up. Some might consider that this fact lessens the value. This is the first time I have ever left a negative review on Amazon, and unfortunately, this product earned it. The coffee table itself looked fine upon arrival, but the assembly process was incredibly frustrating. The installation kit did not correspond to the instructions. The hardware pieces listed in the manual did not match what was included in the box, making it confusing and unnecessarily difficult to assemble. What made the experience worse was the lack of customer support information. The instructions state that I could contact the company if I had any problems, yet there is no phone number, no email address, and no clear way to reach them. That is unacceptable and shows poor attention to customer experience. I have been purchasing from Amazon for many years, and this has been, by far, the most disappointing experience I’ve had. I’m really happy with this purchase. Assembly was a breeze—it took me less than 10 minutes. The pieces fit together perfectly and the hardware was well-organized. Pretty disappointed in the material quality. The surface looks beautiful, until I you realize it is a fragile and incredibly thin finish. A mug slid across the surface caused the finish to chip and flake off. Like others mentioned, it's also fairly unstable. A slight bump could make this table topple over. Against my better judgement, I bought two of these, and both are now chipped and looking far less attractive than when I first assembled them (less than a week old).
