First off, it arrived quickly and was simply, and neatly packaged. The tripod itself comes in a quality heavy duty nylon carrying bag, that has a commercial quality zipper, which is nice, long term. The tripod is everything the seller’s description said it was. The parts that are plastic, are high quality plastic with a very solid feel. The fluid head is smooth w just the right resistance, and the aluminum tubes that comprise the actual tripod legs seem to be very strong, which when combined with the attached spreader , gives the whole thing a very solid stance that can carry some weight. Here’s the thing….like anyone reading this , I buy a lot of “things “ as I slog through life, and usually I’m pretty disappointed w the quality and design, which is why I am so impressed w this tripod…absolutely looks, and feels like it’s worth the money. Absolutely awesome tripod. Very large and heavy. Would not backpack with it, but if you are driving to location, this thing is sturdy, and not affected by the wind as much as the smaller ones. Read more
Overall not a bad video tripod for the price. You will of course get what you pay for, so if you’re looking for perfectly smooth action, you will want to shell out more for it. However this isn’t bad, especially for the payload and price. It will serve beginners and simple needs just fine so long as you don’t need to beat it up. PRO’s: -not too heavy. aluminum legs are good, plastic otherwise, including a lot of the head itself. -comes with a long manfrotto-compatible baseplate which is nice. -ball head with a level gauge on the head for easy leveling. -pan/tilt action is decent for the price. No adjustability on either but not a surprise. -high payload capacity. -locks work fine. -quick releases work fine. -head is removable and easily mounted via 3/8 screw (I transferred it to a monopod). CON’s: -plastic on most every part where metal would be on a nicer tripod. It’s generally fine but definitely gives it a cheaper feel and I would be careful tossing this thing around. -the leg action and plate tension screw feels like it needs some lubrication. Parts just feel dry. -spring loaded tension on the head isn’t the best and no adjustability, but that’s to be expected for this price. Read more
