Loved this kit. It functions as described and incredibly bright or dim it as desired. It is not very difficult for anyone with basic soldering skill. Highly recommend downloading directions and printing them, certainly needed to clearly understand the assembly process. Again, great kit! Read more

Very fun to assemble. I was following along with a lady YT (Jazzy-UK) and doing along with her was great. I was doing components out of order and wondered if that would matter. I just worked left to right. I figured no power so no harm (?). There is an IC socket that I did install to the board, then put the pins in that and then, the tiny board on those. Not sure if instructions left that part out. On cool tip for the LEDs she gave was after inserting all LEDs use blu tack and flip over. That held all in position making soldering a lot faster. Light is bright and adjustable. I needed this to continue working in late afternoon The battery though, I had to tape down as it would flop around in base. Designer could have considered that during production. Overall it was a fun project and a usable one. Very pleased with purchase. I actually have a bit of kits from this same company and overall, kits are well packaged and straightforward. Very pleased with seller thus far. Read more

Great kit and light is bright! Scan qr code for detailed instructions and pictures fyi I'm fairly new to soldering and was able to do it in 2 hours I only had one issue where you have to split an eight pin connector into two with scissors, so instead of two four-pin pieces I accidentally snapped it in to one piece that's five pins and another that's three, I snapped one pin off the one that had five and Saturday in separately and luckily I was able to make it work good experience I guess. I had a significant amount of spare parts check the photo I had a lot of screws and extra LED and extra ceramic capacitor and even more confusing the instructions list in ic socket and there is in fact an IC socket included but there is nowhere to put it it's not in the instructions if you place it anywhere and it works without it so. If you were confused like I was staring at the directions wondering where this piece went don't worry apparently it's extra not needed. People were right and saying that there's no battery holder but you can just use kapton tape, the only thing I would add to this is some non-slip pads for the bottom base otherwise it's a great little light Read more

Great kit when all the parts are included. I purchased this kit for my daughter's school project. Unfortunately, we did not inspect the contents upon arrival. When my daughter began her soldering project, she discovered about halfway through that several parts were missing, including the battery. To ensure the project was finished on time, I ordered another kit. This time, we carefully inspected all the parts and confirmed that everything was included. I suspect the first kit may have been a returned item. Ultimately, the lamp was successfully built and is working well. Lesson learned... immediately check for all components before starting to build. Read more

I put the kit together in about 90 minutes. I followed the detailed instructions in the PDF with photos by scanning the QR code, with my computer monitor right next to my solder station. Read the instructions through before you start. I tested each LED with my multimeter (on the diode setting) before installing it. All the LEDs tested good. Most beginners with soldering can do this project. Some tips: Feed the red/black wire through the flexible neck before you strip the ends. I had no trouble that way. I fed one wire at a time. I adhered the battery inside the case with a strip of double-stick 3M tape (they should have included that in the kit). You end up with a very functional bright lamp, which I needed on my desk. It will also be useful for a power outage or using it outside to read on the patio. The ability to control the amount of light through the dimmer is also a great feature. Read more

This was an awesome kit. I have mostly been doing SMD-based kits recently, but I still had fun building this (it is suitable for beginners). And the finished light is honestly fantastic. It’s so bright, but has a nice dimmer as well. Note that it uses normal (cold) white LEDs so it doesn’t make good mood lighting, but it’s a great work lamp. My only complaint is that the base is too light, so you have to be careful of where you bend the gooseneck or it will fall over. To fix it, I cut up some pieces of lead sheeting (shot, small fishing weights, ball bearings, etc. would also work) soldered them into a stack, then placed it in the empty space inside the base before closing it back up, which worked perfectly, and now I can position the light wherever I want without it tipping over. It has indicator lights for when it is actively charging vs fully charged, which was a cute surprise because the indicator LEDs were integrated into a tiny auxiliary board that comes with SMDs already installed (to make the kit easier, I guess). Definitely worth the money! Read more

This was a fun kit. There were no missing components, however, the instructions was not very clear and seemed a tad bit expensive. The battery can hold a charge but it doesn't last for a while. Read more

This kit was easy to assemble. I've actually done 3 of them. The light puts out a surprisingly high amount of pure white light! It's also completely variable from very low to very bright. This kit also includes a lithium ion battery so it will run on the battery. On lower settings, it runs several hours but at full brightness, you only get about an hour and a half or so before it goes dimmer. You can run it on USB all the time as well as charge the battery via USB. It was fun to build and yielded a great little desk light that will give you Plenty of light! Just be careful to follow the directions closely especially when soldering the included cables and watch the polarity of the LEDs and caps and diodes. It's quite clear though if you read the directions first then build it. I really love this little light! Read more
