I have long wanted a hard-side suitcase but did NOT want a clamshell, 2-sided design. This Mixi expandable 20” carryon fit the bill! I do wish it had the side cupholder, but had to choose between that and an expandable model. I’ve traveled with it twice now (car trips) and I’m in love! Rolls like a dream, and completely balanced, unlike my soft-side bags! The build quality seems very good, especially the zippers and wheels. The size seems good, but I’m new to carry-on-only travel and we’ll see how that goes. The listed depth was a tiny bit more than the allowance, but it’s a bit flexible where the top zipper is, so as long as I don’t overstuff it, I think it will fit the sizer okay. No scratches so far! Took this on its first weekend trip and it was fantastic. Super light but sturdy. Looks were deceiving because you can put a LOT in the large space - I use packing cubes but put dirty clothes in a plastic bag and there was Plenty of room to fit everything - the clam style made The dirty clothes bag hard to stuff in and This was why I got this style. Super stable, rollers were very nice and the handle shape made it easy to slide my backpack on and off. Ordered this as a mid option for checked luggage for my cruise and let me tell you it held up so well. It looked just like the product images. The top zipper made packing really easy and the expandable mechanism was very generous with space. I managed to fit 15 outfits, all of my shoes (6 pairs), my makeup bag, my beach bag, and my jewelry WITHOUT using the expandable mechanism. Used for 1st time 3 weeks ago and I love this bag so so much! I felt like it was a bit on the expensive side, but I wanted a good quality bag, and that I got! I also got the one size smaller than this and love that as well. Rolls like a dream. Love the opens from top which is main reason I picked this bag, and they look fabulous. I did a ton of research on hard carry-ons before I decided to give this one a try. For a fraction of the price of Away and Monos, this suitcase really gives them a run for the money. My requirements were top loading, no clam shells, expandable, high-quality casters that were tucked in and did not stick out to break, a secure but easy to adjust handle, and no extra front compartment for laptop needed. With all those requirements, there are very minimal options out there now. I chose this one over the other Mixi ones with laptop & cupholder to maximize space as those were extra gadgets that I realistically would not use. We took two of these on a 2 week trip to Mexico and they handled rolling through the rough sandy cobblestones & trekking through an island like a champ. They both had to unexpectedly be checked in on our way back, and I was nervous as to how they would hold up. Mixi Carry On Top open seems as sturdy as my Samsonite. If it ever gets gate checked it has a TSA lock & “should” survive those rough luggage handlers. The red color & design are perfect, just as pictured. This size should meet the international limits because it’s 21.5 inches including wheels & handle. It expands a great deal more than all my carry ons. The 360 wheels glide smoothly. I also bought the red 24 inch checked luggage. I’ll return to update IF anything breaks. Read more
