First off, I’m a millwright, so I tend to look at how things are designed and assembled a little differently than most people. My first reaction when opening the box was “wow, this thing is heavy!” The weight comes from the beautiful marble-style base, which is very solid and provides excellent stability. That base alone makes the rack feel sturdy and unlikely to tip over. However, once I started assembling it, I noticed some inconsistencies in the quality of the other components. Several of the silver accent pieces are plastic, which feels a bit cheap compared to the otherwise nice base. I actually chose not to install the silver plastic piece that attaches at the base because it didn’t match the overall quality. The silver plastic spacers between the shafts also would have been much better if they were made of metal. The umbrella holder design is a bit odd aesthetically as well. It’s silver with a brown wooden ball, which doesn’t really match the rest of the rack. Unfortunately, the wooden ball also arrived scratched, which was surprising since the packaging itself was very good. The base had a couple small blemishes, and one of the center posts arrived slightly dented at the end. I worked around that by placing that piece toward the bottom where it’s less visible. The biggest issue I ran into was with the bolts that secure the angled hooks to the center shaft. The shaft itself is thin metal that’s tapped for threads, and the included bolts are not made very well. Because of that combination, two of the bolts stripped and wouldn’t tighten properly, so they don’t anchor the hooks as securely as they should. In my opinion, the rack would also benefit from being about 6–10 inches taller, especially for longer coats. Overall, the rack looks nice and the base is extremely solid, which keeps it stable. I just wish the manufacturer had matched the quality of the base with the rest of the components, because it could have been a really excellent piece with a few improvements. Read more

This coat rack turned out to be a nice addition to our office. Assembly was relatively straightforward and did not take long. The only small issue I ran into was with the bottom bolt—the hole in the base was about the same size as the included washer, so you may want to use a slightly larger washer there just to make the fit a bit better. Once assembled, it looks great and feels very sturdy. The marble base is a really nice touch and adds a bit of weight and stability, while also giving the rack a more upscale look. It fits in well with our office décor. Overall, it’s a solid coat rack at a very reasonable price. Good design, sturdy construction, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Read more
