Oh there art thou my gorgeous Sputnik Light Fixture hahaha! No really if I tell you that I'm so in love with mid-century modern Sputnik chandeliers are you going to believe me? What is there not to love about this 1950s mid-century modern stunning light fixture? The Simply Lux, black and gold combined with the milk glass globes, is simply a piece of art on every level. My husband and I are designing our mid-century modern home and doing a complete renovation on it, so needless to say when I come across a Sputnik fixture that I was given the opportunity to review, oh heck yes....I jump right on it right away, and the fixture goes straight into my beautiful home! As an interior designer, I absolutely live for beautiful fixtures such as this! The 25.9 inch adjustable height along with the 24.87 inch total width of this robust light fixture is definitely going to be a topic of conversation in your home! Honestly, everybody who walks into my house, makes a comment about this light fixture! The size is substantial, and it pretty much fits into most any room in your home, I actually installed this in my hallway, as it's a little bit different for a hallway light, however it brings so much interest and visual beauty to a room that is usually overlooked. The light fixture itself has E 26 sockets, and I always recommend an Edison bulb, as it gives the environment more warm warmth, and even more ambience. It also warms up the milk, glass globes. The light fixture itself is very easy to assemble...it does come with very clear instructions, and all hardware. I had the light fixture itself assembled in about 15 minutes, and the installation was just as easy. The instructions are very clear as to how to install this light fixture; just be aware that it is a hardwired fixture, and if you are not familiar with those, YouTube has plenty of videos on how to hardwire a light fixture. Just take all necessary, safety precautions. I also love how the company has a 48 month warranty, so if anything goes wrong with the light fixture, they will replace any necessary parts. That that's a great company! One thing that I truly love are the modern black and gold accents on this mid-century Sputnik chandelier. Usually you tend to find the gold versus just the black and gold. As we are redoing our hall bathroom in all black, gold and green, this hallway light fixture is a perfect way to transition into the lux-modern-in feel bathroom. Super cute and love the mixed metal colorway. It gives a cute twist for a modern look. It was very easy to install and even though it came with instructions, it’s so straight forward you won’t need to reference them as long as you have knowledge of light fixture installation. Be mindful of the bulbs you choose because that is what is going to dictate whether you get the light level you’re looking for. I cannot see this light fixture as something that looks good with a dimmer, so keep that in mind if you’re considering a dimmer. It makes the most sense to me to be in full light mode or completely off. But that’s my point of view. I personally prefer five or more lights for symmetry and feel that four sits odd. Now, that being said, if you have a small room or nook where you’d want to install this, or perhaps a tiny closet you want to give some pizzazz to, the four bulbs would work with that motif because it wouldn’t be out of place. It’s cute that the manufacturer caused this. It was the first satellite sent by the Russians into space with a dog on board to study the effects of space travel in 1957. This is a lighting fixture that has four E26 sockets. The E26 socket is a standard American lightbulb socket. The manufacturer shows this in their advertising as having a round bulb that is milky opaque, like a light bulb. There are several bulbs available for the Standard socket, including incandescent LEDs. They suggest that the wattage be 60 W or less if you put 460 W LED globes. This would be an extremely bright chandelier, and you might want to consider placing a dimmer, as 60 W LED is very, very bright. It has a gold color finish on it. It’s a beautiful chandelier that should be easily hung in a bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, or hallway. It would be a welcome addition to your home. Installation is easy; simply install it into a well-secured standard US junction box. There are two wires that come out of this lighting fixture. The black and the white are utilized. This device does not utilize a grounding system. You were supplied with wire lock nuts, so what would you do if you were to take the install plate, attach it loosely to the junction box after turning the circuit off at the circuit breaker, then test the wires in the junction box to make certain there is no electricity of the wire. Then we attach the install plate threading the wires from the Junction box the black and white wire through the hole in the center of the install plate used the supplied wire lock, nuts to connect the black and white wire to the black-and-white wire coming from the lighting fixture then tighten the install plate to the standard junction box and place the fixture cover over the junction box and tighten it with the tub machine screws that are supplied. Next, screw in the poles of the light. We assume we previously threaded the two tubes of the chandelier, going from the base of the chandelier up to the junction box cover of the chandelier. You would now screw the poles into the base of the chandelier, which holds the lightbulbs. Acquire light bulbs that fit E 26 and screw them into the holes. I suspect that they call this a Sputnik picture because the circular bulbs going out in four different directions at 90° angles simulate what a satellite might’ve looked like going around a globe. This chandelier instantly upgraded our entryway with its simple, modern style. The black and gold finish looks elegant and goes well with the rest of our decor. Putting it together was straightforward and hassle-free. Once installed, it’s stood out both in function and looks. The size is just right for a smaller hallway or foyer, it's not big so don't expect to fit in larger rooms. I appreciate being able to my own smart bulbs and adjust the fixture height to suit our ceiling. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to quickly add a little flair and brightness to their space.
