I love handbags and totes and requested this one thinking it would be more attractive for hauling stuff to meetings than the bags I am using now. It will partially fill my requirements — but will need some modification. It is made in the “PRC”. Maybe written that way because they think we don’t know that’s China? First for the nitty gritty: Weighing 1lb, 12 oz it feels heavy. What did I expect for a bag that actually measures 17 1/2” in width and is 11 1/4” tall? The bottom presses open to 4 1/2” wide, is rigid, stays open and with 4 metal feet on the corners stands upright on its own. It is described as “vegan leather”. That could be plant based or plastic — my bet is on plastic because it doesn’t feel any different from any other fake leather bag I’ve ever felt. One side is stitched with those huge chunky looking stitches that are a matter of taste. Carry it with the other, unstitched side facing it if the stitches don’t meet your taste. There are two side pockets on the inside, one zipped and the other open. The inside is bisected with a full width zippered pocket ideal for file folders and papers. My laptop fits in one of the open sections. The lining is dark brown Wrangler motif fabric - I count dark lining as a detriment to any bag I carry. It just makes it impossible to find all the stuff that, like water, finds it’s way immediately to the bottom of the bag. There are two handles that hinge out of the way when not being used and a too long, adjustable and detachable shoulder or cross body strap. I say too long because even when adjusted to the shortest length it is still 49” long — way too long even cross body for most of us. That can be remedied by punching new holes. There is also a card case with three card slots (one windowed) on one side and three more on the reverse side. Each side also has a larger slot for folded currency/ receipts/whatever. It clips to a small ring near the top inside of the bag. I think this card case would have been more useful had it included a coin pouch. I don’t see my self using this case, I will simply carry my regular wallet with me. Read more
