I used this ice cream salt to cover my concrete steps and walkway, because all the stores were out of snowmelt. I had to use this product to make sure that I did not fall on a newly replaced knee. It worked longer than traditional snowmelt and rock salt. It leaves a coating even when it melts from the rain, that actually secures your footing further. For emergency purposes, this was an affordable and excellent substitution during a particulary harsh snowstorm.
