Buy one, get two free

These feel very solid in your hand. You pick one up, you want to cut something. The handles are attractive, and nicely shape. The tang extends v-e-r-y slightly above the wood. Not enough to affect how they function, but if you're the kind of person who notices that kind of thing, it's there. It's one of the differences between custom and production knives. The Serbian chef knife is a whopper. The weight makes it interesting to chop vegetables with. You can lift it, and let gravity take care of the job of lowering it. It also works nicely for separating chicken wings into drumettes and flats, although the cleaver is actually more suitable for that. I'm not sure what to make of the Viking knife, which almost looks like it's made for battle, rather than cooking. Although maybe that's what makes it a 'Viking' knife -- you can use it for either one. Of the three, if I could only keep one, it would be this, because you can use it for anything. Except paring, really. It's too big for that. So one way to look at it is, you get one kick-ass Viking knife, at a great price, and they throw in two other specialty knives for free. The finger holes in the blades seemed gimmicky at first, but I've grown to like them. They do have sharp corners, though. I used a file to round them, to make them more comfortable. The bag is great to have, because all my knife rack space is already taken up. And if I ever go to a friend's house for some communal cooking, it's easy to grab the bag and be ready for (just about) anything. There's no doubt that this set would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys cooking a lot of meat. But if you do that, have it sent directly to the recipient, because once you get it, you'll want to keep it. Read more

Couldn't Believe the Build and Quality – Exceptional Knives

I just so happened to be looking to replace our knives when I saw this product, and when it arrived I couldn't believe the build and quality of these knives. They are extremely well built and razor sharp right out of the box. The hand-forged blades have a beautiful texture and unique character that you just don't get with stamped knives, and the high carbon stainless steel construction feels premium and substantial in hand. They look awesome with the black chacate wood handles and full tang construction, and they have a really good weight to them that makes cutting feel controlled and effortless. While I have carved meat with them—which they handle beautifully—I've also used them for everyday chopping duties in the kitchen. As a matter of fact, I used the butcher knife to chop up romaine lettuce and veggies for a salad last night, and it sliced through everything cleanly with minimal effort . The Serbian chef knife, butcher cleaver, and Viking knife each have their own strengths, but all three are incredibly versatile for everything from slicing and dicing to deboning and filleting. The blades are so sharp and well-balanced that prep work feels faster and more enjoyable. The full tang ergonomic design with the triple-riveted black chacate wood handles provides exceptional grip, control, and comfort even during extended use. The hand-forged texture on the blades helps prevent food from sticking, which is a nice bonus when working with vegetables or sticky proteins. The included Oxford roll bag keeps everything organized and protected, making this set easy to store or take along for outdoor cooking and camping trips. These are exceptional knives and I'm so happy to have them—they perform like professional-grade tools and have completely elevated my kitchen experience. Read more

Fun and budget friendly, good for casual kitchen use.

Not a bad set at all! Very hefty and heavy. The blades came razor sharp. Very interesting shapes. Fun to use! They come in a pretty nice knife case and fold up like you'd find a chef maybe using. At home, I'll put them on the magnetic rack and probably toss the knife case away. They are definitely cool looking. So far, the one that's most like a Chef's knife has been very comfortable to use. It's a bit shorter than my preferred 10" chef knife, but sure looks good and agressive. The curved blade lets you slice and dice on a cutting board very easily. The large cleaver is indeed a heavier knife. You can slice with it as well, but it's a bit unwieldy, as most cleavers would be. The in-between blade, I'm going to call it similar to a Japanes Santoku, is fairly comfy and in between the cleaver and the chef knife, as expected. Still, a fun knife to use. The point on this one, and with the chef knife, is VERY sharp, so it's great for piercing into your meats/veggies. Was a real fun knife for separating broccoli flourettes. As a set, these will outfit a kitchen with some usable blades. They're not the most magnificently made, but they're sharp and take a sharpening pretty easily. The edge retention is pretty average, I tend to touch up my blades on a strop or hone quite frequently. Mossy Oak isn't a super well known brand for cutlery, but I've been kind of impressed with their pocket knives lately. I know they're not making them, rather, they're being mass produced off a Chinese assembly line and have the Mossy Oak name affixed. Fun, you get what you pay for, usable---unless you're a pro, you'll probably be quite happy with them. Your friends will DEFINITELY comment on them if they see them. Read more
