A great little MP3 player with lots of features.
The ad labels this MP3 Player as being "for kids." This is misleading. I'm many years beyond being a kid, and this little player serves my needs nicely. The reason it's billed as a kids player is that there is a parental control app that allows parents to put detailed restrictions on the player, such as blocking apps, disabling Wifi and Bluetooth, preventing file transfers, and a timer to automatically limit screen time. So, if you're a parent looking for a player for your kids you might want to give this one a look. As for me, an old guy, it's a nice, basic player that has all of the features that I need. People ask, why get an MP3 player when you have a cell phone. I use the MP3 player mainly for listening to music, often with other people on our deck or in my basement bar. I can play my music mix (Amazon Music) without it being interrupted by phone calls, security camera notifications, and other distractions. For me, it's the way to go. As to the player itself. It's a solid little player with all of the basic features and apps. It has Wifi and it connected effortlessly to our home internet. It also has bluetooth and it connected easily to both the outdoor speakers on our deck and another pair of speakers in the bar. The sound is surprisingly good for such a little player. Pump it through good speakers and you get great sound. The player has 16 GB of internal memory. Admittedly, not much. But it's expandable up to 512 GB with the addition of a mini SD card (Not included). Since I mostly stream music from Amazon (the Amazon app is pre-installed), memory isn't a big deal for me. I did, however, go through and uninstall all of the apps that I won't use to free up a little more space. Pre-installed apps include Amazon Music, Spotify for kids, Pandora, a Chrome Browser (yes, you can access the internet on it), a clock, a calculator, a calendar, a file transfer app, ebooks, an FM radio, and some other stuff. It's almost like a basic cellphone but, of course, you can't make calls on it. It comes with some very basic earbuds, but obviously, you can switch to better headphones if you choose. The FM radio uses the earbuds as an antenna, so you can only listen to the radio over them. It comes with a type C charging cord. The player is metal, and there is also a nifty clear backing that the player snaps into. The ad says that the backing is tempered glass, and I'll take their word for it. The player is said to be upgraded to Android 9.0. Again, I'll take their word for it. I did have a previous version of this same player, and this one seems to be a little snappier. Time will tell. It is also said to have a 2000mAh battery that will play up to 50 hours of music on a 2-hour charge. Again, time will tell, though I have my doubts about that one. I've only had the player for several hours, so I haven't really put it through its paces yet, but everything that I've done with it so far has been great, so I'm comfortable giving it a 5-star review and highly recommending it. If bad things happen going forward, I will update this review but, so far, so good. Read more
