This review is for the Tangxi MP3 Player. This thing is absolutely a state of the cheap device. It registers as a Jie Li CD002 which based on a search shows that this has been used in other cheap MP3 players as far back as 2021 if not sooner. There is a fascinating GitHub page that covers this chip in detail (AC109N). Like most of these cheap electronics it works but has several serve limitations that you should know going into this. Out of the box they provide a cheap pair of headphones and a very short microUSB cable for charging the device. There is absolutely no onboard flash and you are expected to provide a microSD Card. I only had a 1GB SD Card which I formatted as FAT16 which read with no issue. I loaded it up with a couple of random MP3’s I had collected throughout the years and all of them played without issue. It appears to start playing the music as soon as you flip on the on switch, it also starts playing at the absolute loudest volume setting on every single reset (quite annoying to be honest). The device will continue to play, even with the headset disconnected, whether that is a pro or con depends on your use case. There are no options to set shuffle, the order of play appears to be based on the file names within the device. It will loop over the entire SD Card however after reaching the end which is excellent. When plugged into a port that provides DATA lines it will stop playback, but when plugged into a pure charge port it will continue to play and charge, making this a possible choice for an in car MP3 player! Depending on the cost, this seems like something that would be great for a conference swag bag, or for disassembly for a makerspace project looking for MP3 playback in a tight package. Read more

This Tangxi MP3 Player MP4 Player,Portable Lossless MP3 Music Player is currently $6.18. It comes with $tree caliber headphones, and a micro usb charging cord. No instructions. None really needed. I put some mp3's on a 64gb SD card and put it in the slot. I turned it on and it played. The other buttons all function as expected. When turned off, it resumes from the beginning of the most recent song. This plays music in stereo, the sound quality is $6 worth of quality. Not good, but functional. I ordered this for my daughter to use at camp. It's perfect for a disposable mp3 player and I will not give 2 cares about this if it gets lost, broken, or wet. Read more
