So, this sleeping bag is actually pretty nice overall. It feels well-made and the material is high quality. It’s got three layers, and each layer is labeled, which is pretty handy. The zippers work from inside and outside, so that’s a plus. I tested it indoors for a couple of nights just to see how warm it would get, and wow, it gets really warm. It definitely does its job of keeping you cozy in cold weather. Even without the outermost waterproof layer, it was super toasty inside. The only thing I didn’t love was that the leg area feels a bit narrow, so you kind of have to keep your legs close together. But I guess that’s pretty normal for a lot of sleeping bags. Also, the bag it comes in is neat because it has this air vent feature. You can basically squish the air out and make it smaller, which helps because otherwise the bag is huge and kind of heavy. This multi-layer sleeping bag is a serious, cold weather bag for survival in sub-zero temperatures. It claims to be effective down to -30 Celsius/-22 Fahrenheit. It has 3 layers that can be removed for warmer weather or added back in when the weather requires additional insulation. While I'm not able to test it in a cold environment at the moment (still pretty warm here in Texas), after trying it out in the cool of the morning, I can believe that it will be very effective in extremely cold environments. The sleeping bag is well made, and has several features that enhances the efficiency of the insulation: 1. 3 layers for flexibility in changing weather conditions. 2. 3rd layer is waterproof and rolls up in a small bag with straps & buckles to keep it secure. 3. Compression storage bag that compresses down to about 60% size for easier transport. 4. Full-length zippers with added Velcro closures on both the insulated layers. 5. Fully insulated hood with draw string to secure it around the head for maximum warmth. This sleeping bag is fairly bulky to carry, even when compressed in the compression bag, so it may not be the right choice for an extended outdoor hiking session over several days where space becomes critical, depending on your backpack design, etc., but it's unlikely that I'll be hiking that far over long distances in weather that would require this sleeping bag. It's a good item to keep in the car in cold weather conditions in the event of a vehicle problems or conditions that leave motorists stranded. It could also be handy to have at the house in the event of a power outage in the middle of winter like most of my state experienced in -5 F temperatures a few years back. Read more
This is a great bivy sack. It has multiple layers of bags to use, and allows you to only use the portions you need. The outer cover comes in it's own sack, and could be used by itself for wind/rain protection. The quality looks good, and the stitching is nice. The picture shows the size when ALL components are packed up. To be clear - this is not a backpacking sleeping bag. This thing is not light, nor is it small. But the multi-layer system keeps the warmth in and helps you sleep better. Read more
