I kept buying glass water bottles and then breaking them by mistake. This time around I decided to suck it up and go with plastic. Another thing that had been a priority had been fitting in a cup holder but I also wanted more capacity and I couldn't see to find both, so I went with the larger size. Imagine my delight when I realized this DOES fit in my cupholder! It will fit into the larger size cupholders ONLY, not the standard sized one. So, it doesn't fit in any of the ones in my Prius but does fit in the Mercury Mariner cupholder when you remove the cupholder insert allowing yourself a bit more space. I love the wide mouth on this bottle, too. I didn't want a straw and I always spill on myself so the wide mouth was a must. The other thing that I'm thrilled about is that the bottle seals itself really well so you don't spill water whenever you open it. My prevous bottle dribbled water from the lid everytime I opened it and I just thought I was the reason. Now, I realize that it was never me and it was the bottle all along. As silly as it sounds, this is like a whole new world! I am thrilled by this bottle and would definitely buy it again. It is sturdy, drop-able without being breakable, has a wide opening and BONUS: fits in my large sized cup holders. Tip: the price varies based on the color, so if you don't care about the color but do care about the price click on all of the options before adding to the cart and purchasing. Read more
Nalgene is the only water bottle brand I purchase. As an outdoors enthusiast their lightweight, durable, & easy to use qualities can’t be beat. I’ve also found that as a mother of 4 boys they are the only brand that holds up to young kids always dropping things. I prefer the wide mouth bottles because they are easier to clean. If you aren’t a big fan of drinking from the wide mouth like myself you can separately purchase a different lid-I prefer the CapCap+. Aside from the awesome quality of Nalgene bottles their prices are very fair & I appreciate a company who doesn’t over price their items just because they can. Read more
I've been using nalgene bottles for almost 10 years and I still use most of them. I'm beginning to replace them and update to the BPA free ones for some peace of mind. I once threw one of the older grey ones off an 80 feet rockface when I was climbing to see what would happen to it. It bounced off a few boulders on it's free fall from 80 feet and made a loud thump since it was full of water when it hit the rock base below. When I climbed back down I picked it up to find that it was scratched, which was to be expected and there was a little bit of water around it that leaked out from the impact, but the bottle and lid were still in place and didn't seem to leak water... So yeah these are good bottles. I'm looking forward to buying more clear ones soo I can see how many floaties are in my water when I melt snow to pour into these when snow camping. These also hold up fine in cold freezing weather, i've never had one explode. I usually take the nalgene and stick it in my boot with the lid pointing into the boot. In the morning there is ice in the top (real bottom), but still enough liquid water that I have something to drink when I wake up in the morning and the lid is not frozen shut because the bottle was upside down. Nalgene bottles are 'indestructible.' I remember trying to destroy one with a friend as a kid 15 years ago. We threw it onto the pavement repeatedly and it just wouldn't break! Just bounced higher each time... I carry two of these in my Osprey's side, mesh bottle pockets while hiking for extra, emergency water. The wide mouth is great for gulping or filling with ice (although it won't keep ice for long as these have no insulation.) Get a double walled stainless steel Thermos brand bottle if you want ice all day for your application. I have an 18oz and 22oz Element 5 Thermo which keep ice literally all day. I see Nalgene's as being a great lightweight bottle for carrying additional water camping or hiking. The toughness of a Nalgene is great for a survival/outdoor situation - you're never going to break this by dropping it. They have volume measurements on the side if you need to measure out water for say a freeze dried camping/hiking meal. The screw on caps have never leaked on me. Read more
The Good: + Better compared to other water bottle + still going strong after a year usage + save the environment using reusable water bottle + never leaked so far + easy to clean - wide mouth The Bad: - the logo and the marker on the outside faded away pretty quickly - there's a hairline crack, I'm wondering whether it will crack and leak soon ... if you are comparing whether to buy a plastic water bottle or stainless steel water bottle, I prefer a stainless steel. but if you are looking for a plastic water bottle, this is one of the best out there. Great quality and BPA free. Read more
It's the one and only reusable water bottle company and style. Wide mouth is easy to clean and for ice. Design is easy to carry and simple. My 3 bottle of the exact same size and shape because why would i try something else when this works perfectly? Dropped it manny times on concrete and such, nothing more than little scratches and nothing to make it leak. I always wash it in the top rack, no melting, cleans perfectly. Freezes well too, just make sure you leave enough room for the ice to expand or else you will crack the bottle. Read more
