The earrings I received are not what I expected. To begin, the gold fastenings at the top are light enough in color that I first mistook them for silver. As for the stones, they do not match what I see in the product photos. While the stones are green, they are not a lighter shade, and they appear more like a darker, mossy green. The earrings lack a smooth finish and have a textured feel with random places that sink in, as though air bubbles got stuck in the material. As such, I am disappointed in both the appearance and quality of these earrings. The hooks appear securely fastened to the stones, though, and do not seem like they will easily come off. The earrings have a slight weight to them as well, so I could see prolonged use causing some discomfort for sensitive users. Overall, these bangle earrings did not meet my expectations. I minored in applied art in college including: silversmithing, lapidary stone cutting, weaving, enamel working, etc... I a like everyone else I like some costume not fine jewelry to wear around everyday. To me it is clear this is a dye enhanced composite stone. For the price this is expected and normal. The grading is not so good as I was unsure I received the correct stone until I studied the back which unlike the front looks like that same type of stone. There is always variability in any stone but a composite consists of various small stones compressed and held together in some kind of natural matrix which what this is. It looks good and is finished like I would finish and polish a stone myself. There seems to not be good matching when assembled, so like the backs of mine are close to the picture but the front looks different, but that is aesthetics and even for this price is not common. I find the unusual ear wire and pendant style bead hanger problematic. The ear wire is a bit too thick and though I never react to metals is did make my ear itch after wearing a couple of hours so normally I would just switch it out with a different ear hook and switch the nicer looking (and more closely matching the pictures) backside to the front as it is fully finished as well, but this is not easily possible with this style ear wire. I will either have to find a pendant hanger this will fit on or make something if I want something looking closer to the pictures. I find the length and weight comfortable and not too heavy. A composite stone will never wear like a solid stone because there are always going to be weaker places, but for this price this is a nice set of earrings, even if I have to alter them for my comfort. I would buy these again, but I would recommend someone wear them several hours to see if you start reacting to the metals. These are a nice use of a cheaper stone treated and used to the maximum effect so if its lost it no huge problem. As long as it is clear these are natural stone and not manufactured plastic so there will be variability in how they look, then you should like these as much as i do. Read more
