Yes there are many cheaper options on Amazon for this type of product. Since I do work from home for approximately 20 hours each week the desk is being used quite a bit, so I wanted something that would hold up. I chose this blotter due to the following attributes: ships flat - no issue with curling sides or weighing down corners; stays in place - does not slide; no smell out of the box; nice felt-like bottom surface to protect the desk and keep in place; waterproof and easy to clean; barely visible logo in corner, nice size options, great feel and comfort. I purchased this for my L shaped desk extension side. Being right handed I can use that space to write notes while reading the computer on the "main" desk side; I can also turn my chair to the side extension to use as the desk workspace when needed. The desk I purchased has a built in faux leather inlay on the main desk area that is very nice, but it does not extend down to the desk end (very nice looking though). Since I am never touching the desk surface of the main desk it should never start to wear or fade. I placed the Nekmit blotter right to the closest edge of the desk extension so that my hands and arms will always be on the blotter and will not start to mark up the cherry veneer of the desk. First the good...arrived packaged well, it's delivered flat so it isn't rolled up when you get it. It's a great size, with plenty of room for my 15" MacBook, plus a keyboard, mouse, etc. and more room to spare. Doesn't slip or slide on my desk at all. The "leather" surface is nice and soft, feels great. My mouse works well on it as well. It add just a bit of padding under my wrists/elbows while I'm working which is great. So appearance and functionality and both great. Now the only negative so far. I've been using this for 8 days (since 03/05/2020) and it's already starting to "warp" somehow along a few edges (see picture). I can only assume this is somehow being caused by my laptop, as that's the corner where it sits. I don't understand how or why, other than heat coming off my laptop is causing the desk pad to become malformed. This is pretty disappointing after 8 days. That's where my laptop sits and remains at all times, and I'm not about to relocate my laptop when not in use just to preserve the desk pad. This desk pad replaced my previous desk pad after 14 years, and I never had an issue like this. So, I can only imagine this is a "you get what you pay for" scenario. I'll continue using it for now as the rest of the desk pad is still fine, including the front portion which faces me. But I'll likely spend a bit more money on a better quality desk pad in the near future, one that won't warp or bend after a week. UPDATE 06/05/2020: Updating this review and adding a new picture, as the front of the pad has now started to warp and buckle as well. This really makes no sense, as the front of my laptop doesn't put off any heat at all. I've even taken to propping up the back of my laptop to prevent the back edge of the mat from warping worse, which seems to be working. But I can't prop the front edge of my laptop up as well. Beyond the warping, it's been a nice mat to use over the last several months. Have spilled a couple things and the mat cleans up well. The surface feels great. But I just had to knock another star off my rating because of the warping issue. Now that the front edge is warping as well, I'm going to be forced to start shopping for a new mat. UPDATE 03/06/2023: Despite my prior comments on this and stating that I'd likely buy a different desk mat, I never did. It's now almost exactly 3 years after my initial purchase, and I'm still using this mat. The warping/buckling on the front of the mat eventually flattened. I began using a laptop stand which elevated the back of my laptop off the mat, so the warping at the back subsided as well and has not been an issue. It continues to be easy to clean, still looks great, and is still meeting my needs. As such, after three years of use, I'm bumping my star rating up to 4. Leaving a star off simply because of the initial warping issues. One shouldn't have to wait months for the mat to flatten. But it has, so all is well! Read more

FINALLY found the desk pad I have been searching for! This is a high-quality leather desk pad, with a good non-slip back and which holds it form perfectly. It is excellent for writing and signing documents on, and is also great backdrop for electronic check deposits. I tried numerous different options before finding this Nekmit Pad, and this is BY FAR the best out of all I have tried. Has held up perfectly since I bought it a year ago, with no visible wear. Excellent product! I've had one of these, the 17 x 34 size for nearly nine years with daily use. It is durable, cleans easily and looks great. It shows very little wear after this time and still looks like new. I will be purchasing a second for a second desk. Worth the cost! Read more

I REALLY wanted to love this product. Sadly, I can't recommend it. Originally purchased a year and a half ago and the top layer of the faux leather began to fray within months despite the fact that I DON'T "abuse" it in any way and in fact rotated it. I confess: I should have reported this sooner...guilty. Still, this should have lasted WAY longer. I've emailed Nekmit FOUR TIMES requesting a replacement...no response at all. AMAZON: I HOPE YOU READ THIS AND MAKE THIS GOOD. I can't even tell if Nekmit is still in business, though their site is certainly up. My whole family uses Amazon nearly daily, but this was a really bad purchase. FYI, I like the size of this. If anyone has an alternative, feel free to speak up!
