NEMO Equipment Jazz Synthetic Sleeping Bag

I am 6’2” and 200lbs, I’m not the biggest guy ever but I have a very hard time finding camping and backpacking gear that fits. This sleeping bag is amazing quality, the zippers work flawlessly and it is so nice having one on each side. The material inside and out is so soft especially for a sleeping bag, and the back of the sleeping bag is only a little insulated which means it’s not wasted but it’s still a little padded. The pillow holder is good but only for a small pillow, and the sleeping pad sleeves are perfect for a really thick 30”x78” sleeping pad like the big Agnes boundary deluxe or a heavy self inflating foam pad like the Nemo roamer. The hood at the top and the draft collar match perfectly with the top of the sleeping bag you can have your shoulders completely out or only the lower half of your face is out like a mummy bag. The sheet in my opinion is useless the clasps along the sides are perfect but the buttons along the bottom allow the sheet to come loose. The sheet itself is super high quality though. The sleeping bag is super roomy I have wide shoulders, long arms, and 13m feet, I also sleep on my side and stomach and this bag still has plenty of room. I got this bag for 155$ on a huge sale and it is worth every penny and more I would pay 240$ for it too just not up too 300$. If you are buying this for the sheet and the pillow holder or mesh pockets in the hood don’t. If you are buying it for quality size and comfort it’s perfect. This bag will be amazing for normal camping with a heavy pad or mattress. At under 6 lbs for the bag I will be pairing it with a travel sheet, a 30l stuff sack to get the size down, and a 2lbs sleeping pad to backpack with it. If you can carry the weight it will work great for backpacking as well. *Update* After testing this sleeping bag twice I still love it just as much. One flaw I found and this could be isolated to just my bag, but the foot box does not have as much insulation and the rest of the bag. However with wool socks or down booties this is not a problem. There are draft covers inside for both zippers so they don’t draft AT ALL. The top of this bag got damp from the cheap tent and got a little bit smelly, just by hanging the bag it was already dry and the smell went away immediately from the tent without even cloth washing. Most of all not only was this sleeping bag good down to 30 degrees it was good down to 25f degrees so it was comfortable well below freezing just be careful of your feet. Read more

Size: Fit 2 adults and a toddler who came and crawled into our Nemo Sleeping bag Quality: So far so good. Repeated usage is the best test. Weight: Warm without being hot. We were comfortable on a relatively cool night. Smell: Less off gassing than one would expect but of course being a synthetic material there will always be the expectation of some smell. It dissipated quickly. For those who are more sensitive, we recommend rolling the Nemo bag out in the sun for an hour. Ease of use: zippers seem about the same as on other bags, no more difficult but also not easier. Value: This bag is expensive. No way around that. This sleeping bag is nice and roomy for 2 people. We use with a 4 inch self inflating sleeping pad we bought on Amazon last year and it fits perfectly in the slots in the back that make sure the sleeping back doesn’t move around while you sleep which is very comfortable. The only thing I’d say is that it is extremely difficult to roll this sleeping bag up and put it in the bag without it taking up a lot of space because they didn’t include any kind of cinching strap to make sure when you’re putting it in the ginormous bag they gave you it won’t expand at all. I bought a 60 inch cinching strap that has velcro to make sure it packs up a little smaller when we are car camping/ going off road. No more sleeping in a mummy sleeping bag which is a win in itself! (This is a photo of the bag fully unzipped) it tends to get hot for trips in the summer but we tend to unzip the bag fully and flip the top cover to our feet area and just sleep with the attached sheet if it’s extremely hot which is a nice option. This pairs exactly with the Nemo Roamer sleeping pad. The reason the bag it comes in seems too big is because it was made for the sleeping pad AND the sleeping bag to roll up into the bag it comes with. I think I saw that on one of Nemo's videos for this sleeping bag. You can keep the Nemo Roamer pad in place (in the slots in the bottom of the bag) and just roll it up into the bag it comes with. I hope that helps those that mentioned the bag being so big... which it is... for a reason. I like the room in the bag and not being a mummy and confined. The size is good for one person unless you are both tiny people I guess. I'm 6'2 and if I wanted my wife in there with me I'd get the double width pad and bag. The snap in sheet is nice for when you want some cover but not be totally in the sleeping bag... it's a cooler way to sleep. I love that both sides zip down to the feet and plenty of room at the top for your nice, normal sized pillow. This is the best of both worlds: a roomy bag with the head cover and warmth of a mummy bag. I've owned countless sleeping bags and I can confidently say that this is the very best I've had the pleasure of sleeping in. No drafts, a warm footbox with no additional effort on my part (stuffing clothes, heavy wool socks, etc..) and a head area that somehow stays open enough to not smother you, but still requires absolutely nothing of you. I didn't take any time to try to figure anything out. ADD and a kid keep my mind moving enough that I don't really think too deeply on much. But I know a great product when I see it, and this one is truly remarkable. I also bought the pillow, and I'll be buying the pad as well. I'm sure by the end of the year my whole family will be sleeping in Nemo. Very very highly recommend. Read more

Got the double bag and pad. Both worked great on maiden voyage. Bag was very comfortable. The snap-in sheet works well. Bag attaches to pad so no slipping off. Comfortable and spacious for two adults. Maybe pricy but seems worth it. Read more
