★★★★★

Much better than expected with the best resume video.

KLMDJuly 16, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Start up is a bit slow. Menu has a copy and paste for video. My 2TB MBR drive has 8 folders. Folder 01 is a clipboard folder with nothing in it. I can copy and paste to it for quick finding of movie I'm watching and resume. When I'm done I can delete from the clipboard. The audio and video is good. The audio is hot wired into the HDMI output and the TV has a audio output to send to my stereo receiver for big speaker playback. The minimal programming design is simple to use. Overall, much better than expected. The remote battery cover is a bit stiff to open. The small buttons are far enough apart for easy use. The unit is very small. At this price, I'll buy a second one for backup. EDIT I found the zoom feature in the settings. The top and left arrows shrink the size of the picture. The adjustment stays until you change it again. I shrunk mine 3 clicks each then used the zoom on my tv remote to get a perfect video fit. This tiny player works great for my MP4 and AVI movies. The OK button is play, pause, and info button also. The buttons on my old WD hub wore out so I already bought the second one for the remote. Read more

A nice simple media player that opens up options for quick video playback

Timothy Tompkins, Ghosts On The Big Brown CouchSeptember 9, 2022✓ Verified purchase

I bought this recently to replace a nearly-identical item that had finally died after about five years of faithful service. This one's doing the same job, just as well. Basically, it's a good way to plug-and-play videos stored on flash drives. It makes for a good "on the go" option. More importantly, it plays some video codecs that other players can't deal with. For example, I use this as a good alternative when the Sony PS4 media player won't play something. Easy-to-use, and small enough that it can have a home on top of my Blu-ray player without being awkwardly out of place. The only real minus to this device (and it's a small one) is that its indicator lights are ridiculously bright. When it's turned off there's a single red light that shines out; when it's turned on, there's an equally bright green light. It's pretty distracting, when you're trying to watch a TV that is directly above the unit. Fortunately, it's also easily handeled. I just slapped a sticker over the spot on the front where the light shines out. Problem solved. Bottom line: the player gets the job done, for a good price. Read more

Buyer beware!

This product has many issues. The audio port does not work if the audio jack is connected all of the way in. I replaced the audio jack, and the issue persists. Also, the power plug does not insert the entire way. I do not recommend this product. Read more

great at x264 but x265 not so much, so far

Omni PresenceFebruary 14, 2025✓ Verified purchase

First of all this thing is pretty dang cool, it's the size of a deck of cards and plays most of my .mp4, .m2ts, .avi and .mkv files great. Watched about five movies and a few seasons of shows. Good video quality, subtitles work, and it's fast. If your show season files are all in one folder it will play them sequentially. Also will resume playback in order when you boot up. The included remote is easy to use, minimalist but I like that. My only criticism is this is advertised being able to x265 files, and it will play them, but has tons of artifacts making it unwatchable. To be fair I've only tried a few but every file that x265 does that. Anything encoded in x264 plays and looks good. I use USB sticks up 512gb, formatted exfat and fat32. I tried my 4gb NTFS external usb hard drive and it didn't like that. I think I read that there's a 1TB limit. Read more

Worked great for 24/7 looping!

Becca SilvernaleJuly 2, 2025✓ Verified purchase

In our 24/7 open gym, we rely on three NEUMI Atom Digital Media HDMI Adapters to loop promotional slides and informational content on TVs for our members. These compact devices have proven to be reliable, user-friendly, and effective for continuous digital signage, delivering exactly as marketed. While we’ve encountered a minor issue with the looping function occasionally stopping every couple of weeks, requiring a manual restart, the overall performance and value of these adapters make them a fantastic choice for our needs. Here’s a detailed review based on our experience. Design and Build Quality The NEUMI Atom is a small, lightweight device with a minimalist design that’s perfect for discreet placement in a gym setting. Its compact footprint (roughly the size of a small streaming box) allows us to tuck it away behind TVs or mount it out of sight, keeping the setup clean and professional. The build feels solid for its price point, with a durable plastic casing that has withstood the constant operation in our high-traffic, 24/7 environment. The device connects via HDMI to our TVs and supports USB drives or SD cards for media storage, making it versatile and easy to integrate into our existing setup. However, as noted in some online reviews, the HDMI cable’s tension can nudge the lightweight device out of place, so we secured ours with adhesive strips to keep them stable. Performance in a 24/7 Gym Setting The NEUMI Atom excels at its primary function: looping slides on our gym TVs. We use USB drives to store high-resolution images and short MP4 videos, which the adapters play seamlessly in a continuous loop. The playback quality is impressive, supporting up to 1080p (or 4K for the higher-end models), with crisp visuals and no noticeable lag or stuttering, even after hours of operation. The automatic playback feature is a standout, as the device starts playing media as soon as it’s powered on, requiring no manual input—perfect for a 24/7 setting where staff aren’t always present to manage the TVs. This has been a game-changer for keeping our gym’s promotional content running smoothly, whether it’s displaying workout tips, membership deals, or event announcements. The adapters support a wide range of file formats (MP4, MKV, AVI, JPG, PNG, etc.), which gives us flexibility in creating content without worrying about compatibility issues. We’ve had no problems with the devices recognizing our USB drives, and the ability to connect a USB hub for additional storage is a nice bonus for future scalability. The intuitive interface, while basic, is easy to navigate when we need to update slides or adjust settings, though we rarely need to interact with it thanks to the auto-play feature. Durability and Reliability These adapters have proven reliable in our demanding 24/7 gym environment. They run continuously without overheating significantly, though they do get warm after extended use, as noted in some reviews. We’ve placed ours on flat surfaces with good ventilation to mitigate this, and we haven’t experienced any performance issues related to heat. The devices have held up well over months of constant operation, with no signs of wear or hardware failure. The only minor durability concern is the USB port remaining powered even when the device is “off,” which could wear down connected drives over time. We’ve followed advice from online reviews to use short USB extension cables to reduce strain on the ports. The Looping Issue Our only complaint is that every couple of weeks, the looping function on one or more of the adapters stops, and the slides freeze on the last frame. This requires us to manually reselect the media file or power cycle the device to restart the loop. While this issue is infrequent and doesn’t significantly disrupt our operations, it’s a slight inconvenience in a 24/7 setting where we aim for uninterrupted playback. Some online feedback suggests similar issues with looping, though it’s not widespread enough to indicate a systemic problem. We’ve found that ensuring the USB drives are formatted correctly (FAT32 or exFAT) and checking for firmware updates minimizes this issue, but it hasn’t been completely eliminated. Setup and Ease of Use Setting up the NEUMI Atom is straightforward. We simply loaded our slides and videos onto USB drives, plugged them into the adapters, connected the HDMI cables to our TVs, and powered on the devices. The automatic playback feature kicked in immediately, looping our content without any configuration. The included remote is simple and functional, though it requires a clear line of sight and can be finicky at certain angles, as mentioned in some reviews. For our purposes, we rarely need the remote since the auto-play feature handles everything. The lack of onboard controls is a minor drawback, but the plug-and-play simplicity makes up for it. For those needing more advanced features, like motion-sensor triggers, the NEUMI Atom supports these with additional accessories, though we haven’t explored this for our gym setup. Comparison to Alternatives Compared to other digital media players we considered, like the Micca Speck or streaming devices like Roku, the NEUMI Atom stands out for its affordability and purpose-built design for looping signage. Unlike smart TVs or streaming sticks that rely on Wi-Fi (which can be unreliable in our gym due to occasional internet drops), the NEUMI’s USB/SD card playback ensures consistent performance without internet dependency. The price point (around $40–$50 for the 1080p model) is also a significant advantage over pricier alternatives like the NVIDIA Shield, which offers more features but is overkill for our simple looping needs. Pros Reliable Playback: Seamlessly loops slides and videos with crisp 1080p (or 4K) quality, perfect for 24/7 gym signage. Easy Setup: Plug-and-play with automatic playback, requiring minimal configuration. Affordable: Budget-friendly price for a dedicated media player. Versatile File Support: Handles a wide range of video and image formats without issues. Compact Design: Small footprint, easy to hide behind TVs or mount discreetly. Durable for 24/7 Use: Runs continuously with no major overheating or hardware issues. Cons Occasional Looping Issue: Stops looping every couple of weeks, requiring a manual restart. Powered USB Port: USB port stays powered when off, potentially wearing down drives without an extension cable. Conclusion The NEUMI Atom Digital Media HDMI Adapter is an excellent choice for our 24/7 gym’s digital signage needs. Its ability to reliably loop slides and videos with minimal setup makes it a perfect fit for displaying promotional content to our members. The compact design, wide file format support, and budget-friendly price make it a standout option compared to more complex or expensive alternatives. While the occasional looping issue is a minor annoyance, it’s easily manageable with a quick restart, and the adapters’ overall performance far outweighs this drawback. For anyone needing a simple, reliable media player for continuous playback in a commercial setting, I highly recommend the NEUMI Atom—it delivers exactly as marketed and has been a valuable addition to our gym.
