Bought this dash cam for my girlfriend's car after a recent accident. Insurance wouldn't cover her damages cuz we had no proof of the accident and it was a bunch of he said she said. Decided to get her a cheap dash cam to prevent something like that ever happening again. I have the next base 222 in my car, but the 222G has a GPS and a speed sensor on it which is pretty cool. Super easy install also. Literally ran it under the A pillar, under the dash under the steering wheel to the 12v outlet in about 20 minutes. Good quality of video as well. I highly recommend the next base dash cams. Also recommend getting the carrying pouch with memory card sold separately, as the camera itself does not come with a memory card. Read more

I purchased a Nextbase NBDVR222X July 29, 2021 but was just starting to use it in the last few weeks due to medical reasons. It would not stay on the windshield today. Upon a through inspection of the suction cup I discovered it was torn where it connects to the mount so the latch will not draw it tight. A request to their support to see if a new suction cup could be bought or if a new mount was required. Only answer was an automated email with a support ticket #. With a bad suction cup this camera is 95% useless Update My apology to Nextbase for the 1 star. Their email was sent quickly and a replacement is on the way. My email program put their email in the trash folder instead of the received or spam folder, lucky I caught it when I was looking for another email I had deleted. I give the company 5 stars, the camera 5 stars, but the suction cup 1 star. I will update it if the new one last longer. Update #2 Again the suction cup failed in the same way. now the cup is out of stock on their Web sight. They did offer a free prem. mount but I have two cars I use this camera on and here if you have any thing of value in sight 1. Broken window 2. stolen item and or stolen car. Only a short distance to the Mexico border. Camera is usless without a mount. Love the camera mount sucks. Read more

NOTE: Nextbase RECOMMENDS YOU USE THEIR CARD. It's NOT mandatory, but getting into a very expensive accident that was not your fault and having the recording, I would NOT play around with RECOMMENDATIONS. It should have been mandatory! Why risk it? Nextbase SHOULD SAY, "Your thousands of dollars accident that was not your fault has a HIGH probability of NOT being saved if YOU DON'T USE OUR BRAND SD CARD...DO YOU WANT TO RISK IT?" You'll learn the hard. I got LUCKY! *************** This morning (03.20.20) I was almost in a head-on collision when someone entered my lane. Luckily they realized it and quickly return to their lane in Washington, DC. I did not select PROTECT RECORDING - not sure if it would have worked but see BELOW & Nextbase said it might have automatically deleted cuz I did not use THEIR BRAND SD card. I got home, pulled out my SD card, put into my laptop AND ONLY MY LAST TWO TRIPS RECORDINGS were he ONLY ONES available. I read the manual - after the fact - could not tell what went wrong. I called Nextbases tech support ASAP - they were very nice - and she explained YOU MUST HAVE AN SD CARD that supports LOOP RECORDING!!! HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED KNOW THAT!! The user manuals sates, "FOR BEST RESULT" it does not say anything that your recordings WILL BE DELETED automatically if your SD card is 99% empty if you DON'T use a NEXTBASE SD card!! User Manual: "It is essential that a quality branded Class 10 or U1 type Micro SD card is used with this Dash Cam" <- I USED A TOP BRAND CARD. It still deleted an almost empty SD card. User Manual: "For best results, we recommend using our NextbaseTM branded SD cards with your Dash Cam." User Manual: "Eventually your MicroSD card will fill up with video files but don't worry, the camera automatically deletes the oldest file to make space for new recordings. This way you never run out of space and have plenty of driving data saved." <- IT NEVER FILLED UP (98% empty card when u deleted my files) AND YOU DELETED MY FILES AND LEFT ME WITH THE TWO NEWEST ONES which were meaningless! This is my fourth dash cam. My last was a much more expensive HP. I waited awhile to review this because I've not been impressed with the others after a month of use each, but I think this one is going to be worthwhile. So far, it has been flawless. More than adequate for everyday dashcam use. The mounting system is second to none and it is really nice not having to unplug a cord when you want to remove the camera from the car. Whoever designed the controls actually uses a dashcam because everything is laid out like you would expect. The quick lock button is fantastic. The g sensor settings work better than expected. The picture quality is good and the night vision is also good. I will be buying a few more for my family as this one is worth every penny. Read more
