After our first random air fryer purchase up and died on us, it was time to search for a new one. When we bought our first one, there were less options and we just went with one that we had used in the workplace. Surprisingly, that air fryer lasted us about 8 years so there are no complaints considering the price we paid at the time and that it was a no name one. Now that air fryers have been around a lot longer and become a more common kitchen appliance, I wanted to find something that would fit more with our cooking needs. Enter this Ninja air fryer. I'll admit, in the beginning I had some misgivings about the brand in general as I own no other Ninja products but I know many who do. I opted to do lots of research so that this next air fryer would be the perfect kitchen companion for us. After reading through many actual kitchen tests and top ten lists and comparing all the pros and cons against what we needed...we chose this Ninja model. Now even after comparing the dimensions to our old air fryer, it still didn't prepare me for the massiveness of this beast and that is a good thing. Many of the top rated lists clearly state that this is a larger unit, good for parties and large families. I expected it but was still surprised (in a good way) by the size of this. The big thing we wanted was capacity to run multiple racks at once and be able to monitor the cooking process. This Ninja air fryer is truly like a mini convection oven with extra bells and whistles. After playing around with this and testing out different functions -- I am left wondering how we didn't realize that this was out there and an option. It makes it seem like we were slumming it with our last air fryer. There are so many things that I love about this. The option to turn the inner light on/off at will (no more using a flashlight to check your cooking). The true fan that will make circulating the heat way more efficient (no more needing to turn or rotate food). The ability to change time or temperature in the middle of cooking WITHOUT it resetting the whole thing-so I love being able to add another minute or turn up or down the temps without it starting all over again. The fact that there is a pan/basket/grill accessory for every cooking need you might need (I also bought an extra wire basket as that is the the one we use the most). The large glass front that makes viewing your food super easy so you can easily gauge whether you need more time or less time...all without having to open it. The ease of choosing functions and the easy user interface that makes temp and time choice a no brainer for anyone to use--perfect. The only thing I was not expecting is the sound when this is in use. Yes, it is louder than our last but I actually prefer that for the sole reason that I can hear if this air fryer is still cooking even if I'm in the next room. Now, it's not like I hear it from down the hall or anything but the adjacent rooms can hear this and now we joke that an airplane is taking off whenever we use this. It's not like you are sleeping when you use this so the noise thing is not a deal breaker in any way for me. This air fryer has found it's way to the top 2 appliances used in our household and I could not imagine being without our Vitamix blender OR this air fryer...we use both daily. The large size makes cooking a lot quicker, a word on that--if you do not need the larger size and instead want speed, opt for a smaller unit as this is bigger it takes more time to heat and cook BUT it will still be faster than using a regular sized oven. This is a great air fryer/oven. I had a Cusinart and it was great, but wanted something a bit bigger to fit larger pans. This works great, and I like the different rack levels and it is very, very easy to use. It does get hot, but it is an oven and it is a bit louder, but not crazy loud. I had the Ninja small product that folds back originally and loved it but it was shallow. Ninja makes great products, I have the Ninja Kitchen system blender/food processor, excellent. Read more

I went Carnivore some time ago and this little over is the BEST thing I have ever purchased. It does EVERYTHING. The menu is on the handle of the oven which I think is brilliant. It has very simple buttons that allow you to scroll through temp, time, and how you want to cook, bake, airfry, dehydrate, toast, etc...The light lights the entire over and stays on for a good long time making it nice if you are baking something you want to keep an eye on. It cooks FAST-often takes less time than various food packages state for airfryers/ovens. I have not had anything burn yet-and if you are a fan of making homemade hotwings or drumsticks, this little oven is great for that. It is big-but big in a compact good way. There is a lot of space inside this oven and it comes with two racks, a fryer basket, pan/roasting tray-I don't use the non stick pans it came with as I don't trust non-stick coating in general and I purchased other pans on amazon to use with it. There are some great stainless steel pans and pizza pans available that work just fine, like Deedro 12x10x1 baking sheets w/racks and Deedro 10 inch pizza pans. I have used a standard loaf pan, 8x10 pan, and a 9x13 pan inside it just fine. The menu on the handle tells you which level to cook on based on your selections and inside the oven on the right, the level numbers are impressed in the metal for reference. I DO recommend you clean it as you use it-don't let anything build up. Also, make sure you have enough counter space with a bit of a gap in the back, as this oven vents from behind. This is my second DT201. I like the interior oven size, large glass window, and ability to bake, dry, toast and fry in quantities smaller than a large oven you usually have. It is better, faster and more economical for a small family. And it looks modern on kitchen counter. On positive features - it has a nice and simple user interface with all buttons and display located in the handle. It has electronic temperature control - one can set temperature to desired level. The heating elements are enclosed in quartz tubes - providing longevity and good radiation heating for crusts. Its centrifugal airfry fan is located on the back of the cavity and is made of metal. One can cover lower pan with aluminum foil and that will simplify cleaning. All these features were decision factors for buying this one after comparing with others. On the negative side - the manufacturer used tactile switches that are not rated for high temperature and put them in hot spot. That is why the first failing was start button, followed by other buttons after 6 months of use on my first DT201. I replaced the switches with reliable ones and posted the detailed how-to video on YouTube. It is rather difficult, but despite that, we decided to buy the same model again in assumption that we may have to fix the same with this one when it fails. Read more
