Carbon filters enhance taste in drip coffeemakers.
Aquarium keepers have long used carbon filters to improve water quality. Carbon removes many dissolved chemicals in water, leaving a sparkling odor-free tank. In a coffeemaker, the water is heated and pumped up to drip or spray down on the grounds in the filter basket. These carbon filters lie on top of the filter basket, so water has to pass through the carbon, cleansing the water before it reaches the grounds. Depending on what is in the water you are using (chlorine, flouride, or other dissolved chemicals) these filters can make a significant improvement in how your coffee tastes. Like an aquarium, the carbon eventually needs replacing. These are intended to last a month, but you can change them more often, or less, depending on your taste and on how much coffee you drink. Good and just ok
Getting this money for the price was my reason for buying. They only come 2 to a pack in stores and are nearly $6.00! The one drawback is these do not fit as tightly in the filter holder, but they do enough to work. Read more
Why pay the “name brand” price?
After pricing the water filters for my name brand (won’t say it’s name but starts with Mr.) coffee maker, I started searching for an alternative. These popped into my feed and I’m happy they did. They fit my coffee maker perfectly, the water flows through them just as the name brand. The difference? No fancy packaging (they’re packed in a cellophane sleeve) and you get 8 for the price of two. Have been having to purchase the holder and filter complete set every time, when all I needed was the filter. This can be very expensive and they only came in single packs.
