The instructions do not tell you to plug in a vital cord inside the stem/handlebars of the scooter! Missing this will make the scooter not work! This is my only issue with this product. I think this is likely only going to be an issue for people who have never put together an e-scooter before, but it seems the instructions kind of think this step is so well known that it isn't mentioned. This one cord connects the controller on the handlebars to the rest of the scooter, you cannot power it on without this! The cord was folded up inside the main stem on one side, and the other side folded up inside the handlebar stem. You must pull them out on each side, connect the cables together, and after that can you actually attach and the handlebars and tighten down the connecting screws. If you don't do this first, you'll have to undo all those screws to pull the handlebars back off and do this. Ask me how I know.... My second photo shows green lines representing where the cord will be INSIDE the scooter stem, and the red arrow is where you'll have to take it apart to reach it if you miss this plug. This is the first scooter for my wife and I, and I will say we absolutely love it! I weigh 220lbs, and this thing has no problems moving me around, and quick might I add. Our area is a bit more flat overall, so I haven't been able to see how it'll deal with hills for me. When I'm riding around I tend to go a bit quicker with it than my wife, and I'm also significantly heavier, so the scooter's range has been around the 24 miles for me. But I tend to charge often and haven't gone all the way to empty in one go, so this is an estimate. I'm riding around with a huge smile on my face like a kid again and having a blast, so I don't mind the fact I'm not getting as many miles as my wife sees while using it. I definitely suggest using their app, even though it isn't required. The main thing for us that makes a difference is being able to reduce down the regenerative breaking strength, acceleration strength, and top speed. While most people will probably use this to make the scooter more aggressive, for us it showed its use in being able to make the scooter more tame for my wife. My wife has difficulties when it comes to fine motor control movements. The default settings felt felt jerky for her due to her own limitations, so adjusting things down made it much easier for her to use it comfortably without it responding too fast to any small accidental inputs from her. Second, being able to set a max charge percent on the battery, which should help extend the battery lifetime by not letting it charge to 100%. Read more

This scooter is well-rounded, high-quality urban e-scooter designed for adult commuters seeking comfort, safety, and smart functionality. Featuring a 700W peak power motor, up to 34 miles range, and speeds reaching 17.4 to 20 MPH, this model balances power and efficiency for daily city travel. Performance and Range Powered by a 350W brushless motor with a peak output of 700W, the K200P accelerates smoothly and handles inclines up to 20%. The 7.8Ah, 365Wh battery provides a generous maximum range up to 34 miles (54 km) on a single charge—ideal for city commutes, errands, or weekend rides without frequent recharging anxiety. The scooter boasts four riding modes (E-Save, Sport, Dynamic, Pedestrian) allowing riders to customize speed, acceleration, and battery usage to match their preferences and range requirements. Comfort and Handling A key highlight is the dual-tube front suspension with a 1.26-inch stroke (32mm), combined with 10-inch tubeless pneumatic tires, working together to absorb shocks and vibrations from uneven pavement, potholes, or curbs. This suspension system significantly elevates ride quality compared to rigid scooters, delivering smooth, stable handling and improved comfort. The scooter frame supports riders up to 150 lbs, and the 21.3-inch wide handlebars offer excellent control and stability during turns or higher speeds. Braking and Safety Safety is prioritized with a front drum brake and rear electronic regenerative brake, providing strong, reliable stopping power and enhancing battery regeneration during deceleration. The combined brake system can bring the scooter to a halt within 14 feet (~4.3 meters), providing confidence during urban stop-and-go traffic. Additional safety features include bright halo headlights, rear brake lights, and integrated turn signals, increasing visibility day and night. The IP55 water and dust resistance rating protects electronics during light rain or splashes—essential for everyday commuting. Smart Features and Connectivity The dedicated NIU Smart App enables riders to remotely monitor battery life, track rides, lock the scooter, and customize performance settings such as acceleration sensitivity and regenerative braking strength via Bluetooth. This connected ecosystem enhances convenience and security, particularly in urban environments with scooter theft risks. Portability and Convenience Though not a fully folding scooter, the handlebar features a two-step quick-fold mechanism that folds compactly for easier storage or transport on public transit and in vehicles. Weighing approximately 36 pounds, it strikes a reasonable balance between durability and portability. Charging takes roughly 6-7 hours via included charger, making overnight charging practical for daily commutes. Pros and Cons Pros: Powerful 700W peak motor with smooth acceleration and hill-climbing ability Up to 34 miles range supports long urban trips without recharge anxiety Dual-tube front suspension and tubeless tires ensure superior ride comfort and shock absorption Advanced braking with front drum and rear e-brake, plus brake lights and turn signals increase safety Wide handlebars improve handling stability Comprehensive app connectivity for customization and anti-theft IP55 water resistance enhances all-weather usability Cons: Heavier than ultra-light models, making carrying difficult for some Folding mechanism limited to handlebar, no fully collapsible deck Premium price point compared to basic entry-level scooters Maximum speed capped below 20 MPH, which some riders may find limiting Final Recommendation The NIU K200P is a standout commuter electric scooter for adults who prioritize comfort, range, and smart integration. It shines in urban environments, offering a smooth ride with suspension and tires designed to mitigate rough pavement, alongside ample power and battery life for full-day use. Its safety features and app connectivity add layers of convenience and peace of mind, making it a great investment for commuters, casual riders, and anyone seeking reliable personal mobility with style. While pricier than basic models, the K200P delivers noticeable upgrades in comfort, performance, and tech for the cost. Read more

This scooter is replacing a Segway. It is a big improvement from that model, however, compared to my husband’s NIU KQi 300 scooter, the 200 is very “squirrelly.” It isn’t a smooth ride. I wish we had invested the extra money and purchased that model instead. Read more
