This is a beautiful piece of leather that will only improve with time; a thick, sturdy, very well made belt that hould last a lifetime, guaranteed. I lost weight recently and it rides very comfortably right at my natural waist and keeps my jeans where they belong, instead of constantly having to pull them up. Feels like quality. Happy I went with this one. Things to know to help you decide. It’s a bit thicker than any other belt I own. Maybe by 1 or 2 mm. But feels durable. It’s way stiffer out of the box and feels a little rough. Feels like new leather. The leather was so stiff the buttons would not stay closed. BUT, If you don’t have some, get some leather conditioner. I spent about 30 minutes after conditioning rolling and bending it and it’s super soft and feels like something I’ve been wearing for months now. My old jeans belt had reached the end of its trail. No wonder as I had used it for almost seventy years and the belt itself was mis-shapen, paint spattered and marked with all sorts of things from its wide variety of encounters with all sorts of work in all sorts of odd places. Naturally I removed the old buckle, so old and long used that I have no memory of when or where I got it or why. It's vaguely a "cowboy" buckle and perhaps it was given to me when I was around twelve and deep in my "cowboy" stage or maybe even before. It was unique and certainly different from any buckle I had seen in any store since. Clearly hand made with a tongue that wrapped around the buckle shaft, clearly not made by some machine. So I hunted for a suitable 1 1/2" belt that was thick enough and rugged appearing enough to be a credit to the buckle. It had been a long time since I had hunted for a belt with no buckle but found plenty to chose from on Amazon. I was shocked at the prices, expecting to pay perhaps $10 or $12 for a just a simple plain belt, that's how long it had been since I had looked. I must have looked at twenty or so belts before deciding one made in Europe was probably OK at around $20 and I ordered it. It arrived quickly and I tried to fit my buckle, only to find the snaps were placed too close together and would not fasten around the tongue/shaft combination so reluctantly and with disappointment I returned it: it was a fine piece of leather at a good price! So my hunt continued and I looked again, finally finding this belt from Main Street Forge. It arrived quickly and I immediately tried to mount it, to my surprise it was a perfect fit and with a bit of hand pressure snapped firmly, my favorite buckle snugly in place. It really was as though made for my buckle! Very high quality, rugged leather I expect this belt may well outlive me and well worth the price, proving that sometimes you just have to pay the long dollars to get precisely the kind of item you want and need. This is one of the best belts that I have ever purchased. I’m a large guy over 280 pounds. I’m also about 6 foot tall. This belt is thick enough and wide enough that I feel secure wearing my jeans without them slipping, and they feel good around my waist. They finish on the leather as well as the trim is as good as I’ve seen. Particularly like the devil where the belt buckle attaches. They have taken off just enough leather to make it easier to close and snap properly. I will buy this again. Read more
