A great-value purchase if you want something that plays good old-fashioned DVDs. It has a sleek design that looks great, and its simplicity ensures that it’s easy to set up and use, offering both RCA and HDMI connectivity — I found that the latter provided slightly better sound quality, but the former works well, too. The remote has a lot of nifty features, including slow-motion and zoom buttons in case you want to investigate a video in greater detail. Plus, the box includes batteries for the remote, so you don’t have to search for anything before you set up. Why was I interested in this product?: Streaming entertainment has become the new normal, but it's becoming more and more common that finding certain titles is becoming a bit of a challenge. As the big names in streaming (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) seem to be creating more and more of their own content, it seems that the number of legacy titles in their movie libraries has decreased. Let's face it: a lot of us have significant amount of pre-Bluray movies that still look great on our TVs. It can be tempting to get rid of DVDs and just live in a streaming world, but when you have megacorporations and studios merging and new streaming services popping up, a lot of favorites can get lost in the shuffle. I don't want to pay $5 to rent something for the kids when we have it on DVD. Just keep the DVDs and get a solid unit like this to play them. I initially thought that the price of this was going to mean that it would be a low-feature product. But it has exceeded my expectations. It's small and light and easily moved about as needed (it powers with a USB connection--great feature). This is easy to take on trips and to just keep in the kids' room for their needs. It also can play CDs and content off of USB devices thanks to an easy-to-find port on the front side. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does exactly what you want it to. In the era of streaming, good DVD players are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and this one is a phenomenal value: it looks good, sounds good, and gets the job done! I bought this DVD player specifically to play the Wild Wild West TV series DVDs. I bought the box set with all 4 seasons. The entire first season will not play in this DVD player and there is a message that the region is not supported. I even bought a separate season 1 of the show and they too will not play. Seasons 2 - 4 will play. While I am not happy that whoever made the DVDs use one region for Season 1 and something else for Seasons 2 - 4, this DVD player should have been able to play Season 1. So be careful if you buy this DVD player because it does not support all regions as advertised. Read more

Was looking for a new DVD player after the one I had for about 20 years finally dies on me. Wanted one that was small and didn't take up a lot of space since my old one was a dual DVD player and big and took up a lot of space. Looked around and decided on this one. Great for the price has RCA hookup as well as HDMI hookup. If you are looking for a small compact DVD player that gets the job done then this is the one for you. You cant go wrong. Read more

We bought this player almost as a portable device to use at home but also on van holidays with the family - you can play movies on your phone but it's not the same is it! The best two features at first were the weight of the unit, it's extremely lightweight and compact, doesn't weigh anything at all - and also it comes with everything you need in the box, including a choice of connection cables. Nothing more annoying than buying a piece of tech and then having to hunt round for a HDMI cable or RCA. The instruction book is easy to understand, no jargon at all and each page explains a different feature of the player. I've tested the player using a DVD and a CD so far, and it's great - thinking of buying a couple more to be honest since we have an outside gym area, a kitchen TV and a playroom - having a versatile media player at a really good price is just such a handy thing to have around. If I had one tip it would be to make sure you go straight into the settings, as the default appears to be 4:3 ratio and non-HD - make sure you fully explore the setting menus to get the most out of the player. This is a nice little DVD player. It's compact and blends in nicely with my other AV equipment/consoles/etc. It does play DVDs from other regions (I tested it with a Region 2 DVD). It DOES NOT play all DVD-R discs. I have a release from a company called Reel Vault, and it cannot read those (even though my 13 year old PS3 can read the disc). The image quality is decent, and there are numerous menu options you can play around with. Overall, I am content with the purchase, but just be aware that this device will not have perfect playback. Good size so can fit well in smaller spaces . I mainly got this my elderly mom's house after her old one broke down and I was impressed with how fast and easy it is to use, from inserting to loading and getting ready to watch, it remembers where you left off so allows you to continue viewing from when you last left off in your movie or program. The picture quality is better than I expected I like that you can play any disc with no issues as I think this DVD player is multi format. For the price I think it does the job well the remote is basic and easy to use and has all the functions required. Overall I think its a good machine for the money. Read more
