I got these night vision goggles mainly for camping and wildlife watching. I didn’t really know what to expect as I have never had any night vision goggles before… these are not really “goggles” you wear around your head and hold to your eyes, but more like looking at the screen of your phone when taking pictures. The binocular looking side is what points out and you look at the screen and the image clarity both in low light and pitch darkness is good!! The infrared feature is awesome and the photos are crisp and the videos are smooth. The 5X zoom is handy for getting close and scanning, and the manual focus wheel lets me focus quickly for viewing varying distances. I like that it comes with a 64GB card right out of the box so you can start recording immediately. The screen is bright and clear. Set up was easy and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. The built-in IR flashlight is powerful enough to light up a good distance. The battery is going strong after using several nights in a row and hasn’t needed a recharge. When it is time to recharge, USB-C charging makes it fast and convenient. The goggles themselves are light and the build quality feels solid, with a waterproof design that gives me confidence taking it out in misty or wet conditions. The silver and black finish looks sharp too, kind of a modern tactical vibe without being too flashy. I appreciate that they came with a good strap to hang around your neck. Overall, these goggles check all the boxes: long battery life, crisp imaging, easy controls, and durability. Definitely recommend for anyone who spends time outdoors at night! Read more

I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and another 20 working for a government agency where night vision optics were just part of the job, so I can’t help but judge these against that background. That’s probably not entirely fair, but it is what it is. With that said, for a home user or someone using these around a campsite or property, these are better than I expected. These are digital night vision, not traditional image intensifier tubes, so everything depends on the IR illuminator. In total darkness you’re basically lighting up the scene with infrared and viewing it on a screen. It works well enough for spotting movement, checking the yard, or watching wildlife, but it’s not passive. If someone else has night vision, you’re not exactly hiding. The image on the screen is clear enough to make out shapes and activity without much guesswork. The advertised resolution sounds impressive, but what matters in real use is whether you can tell what you’re looking at, and in that regard these do the job. The 8x zoom is usable at the lower end, but once you push it, you can see the image start to break down since it’s digital zoom. Battery life is one of the stronger points. That larger internal battery keeps things running longer than some of the smaller units I’ve tried. Between the screen, recording, and IR light, these things chew through power, so having extra capacity actually matters here. Build quality feels solid enough for normal handling. I wouldn’t treat them like issued gear, but they don’t feel flimsy either. The waterproof claim is nice to have, though I still wouldn’t go looking for reasons to test that claim. I found these work better when paired with a small tripod, especially if you’re using the zoom or recording video. Hand shake shows up pretty quickly on a screen like this. An external IR light can also help if you’re trying to stretch the viewing distance a bit. Read more

I was both excited and intimidated to receive these night vision goggles, not having tried anything like them before but wanting to use them to spy on wildlife when I go camping or travel to remote places. My partner finds them reminiscent to units he used in the military, a lite version for civilians. I’m impressed at how well they work! They clearly pick up my black dog in what looks like pitch black darkness to my eyes. The captured images just give her wildly glowing eyes. The picture I posted is a shot of the viewport with my iPhone13, but the goggles also saves photographs on the included microSD card which is really fun. My partner says it’s creepy that the screen puts her in crosshairs, but it’s not a hunting target, and coming from a photography background I don’t find it quite as offputting. Besides night vision, the goggles also have powerful white light, day mode, and impressive zoom capabilities. The icon labeled button controls were very intuitive even before I referenced the manual. Though the goggles are waterproof, I personally wouldn’t have them out in the pouring rain, so I’ll leave that test for someone else. The carrying case is both protective and convenient. Though its size is not unsubstantial for travel, it is surprisingly lightweight, worth the luggage space for the right flight destination, and definitely fun enough to pack for a road trip. Can’t wait to take them out in the wild this camping season. Read more

These are really nice night vision binoculars. The black and white night vision is pretty clear on objects that are close, and even though it gets a little grainy when you’re trying to look at stuff farther out, it still does the job. The best part is being able to see in total pitch black, definitely a plus for checking what’s going on in the chicken coop at night without having to walk out there. Overall, super useful and works well for what I needed. Read more
