Just got my second pair of old friend slippers about a week ago. The other ones shown in the photo are probably about 5 years old. Well worth the extra money to get genuine sheepskin. The slippers last many years and they stay warm, comfortable, and the wool is great for not getting stinky and it’s able to absorb perspiration. I ordered a size 13 for the second time, regular width. I wear a 12 1/2 or 13 in tennis shoesThey are plenty wide and will stretch out. unless you have a super wide foot get the regular fit. The insole does come out and can be washed or cleaned, though I did this only once with my first pair. Cons: nothing really comes to mind, would not purchase as a Support slipper. No arch support. That has zero impact on my decision to buy a slipper to wear around the house or walk around outside. Read more
My last pair of slippers were a pair of Florsheim cow-suede upper/synthetic fur lined moccasins that I bought locally. My feet apparently sweat quite a bit and I found those slippers would start to get wet and would be tremendously difficult to get dry again. I'd frequently need to kick them off for hours at a time, only to slip them on and find cold and wet slippers wrapping around my feet -- the complete opposite of comfort. Not to mention that the suede upper on those actually ripped over time (not even at a seam, just the material itself). So, I decided there had to be better slippers out there. After quite a bit of research I found these Old Friend slippers and they are such an improvement. My feet still sweat. I'm not sure there's any way around that. But I seem to be able to kick these off for just a few minutes and when I put them back on they're dry and oh-so cozy again. Even when they do get a bit damp it's quite minor and barely noticeable. I guess that's the benefit of sheepskin lining. Speaking of which, the lining in these doesn't seem to crush nearly as much as the synthetic fur. Every time I put these on they feel about as great as the day I received them. I've been wearing them every day for almost 2 months now, and I'm very happy with them. The upper seems well made and sturdy, there's a ton of padding, the lining is super comfortable, and the sole is durable enough that I don't mind wearing these on a quick errand at all. As stated, there's quite a bit of padding throughout these, so they might feel a bit tight around the foot until they break in. The size is spot on compared to the majority of shoes that I buy at least (size 12). Update: 02/28/2016 My first pair of these failed when the sole split down the side. I believe they lasted about a year. I really do wear slippers almost all day though, so I don't see that as totally unexpected. Since then I've tried a few other pairs of slippers, including the Old Friend Washington, and none have been even close to as comfortable as these are. I look forward to putting these on my feet. They're not perfect, and I'll continue to try other brands to see what else is there, but after those fail me I'll come right back to these Old Friend Moccasins. Read more
I am very happy with these. As I mention in this review title...someone screwed up and sent a pair without the wool fur inside. I was worried the picture was wrong and the replacement would be the same. But they just arrived and they are perfect! For months I had been wearing some very cheap slippers that developed holes from my big toes and the back was to low to stay on my heal. I finally threw them away and ordered annother slightly more expensive slippers with fake fur, that made my feet sweat like crazy because they did not breathe at all. I sent those back for a refund, my feet would be soaking wet and stinky after an hour of wearing them. I looked at the UGG slippers with real fur, since I love my UGG boots and then saw people say OLD FRIEND mocassins were even better and less expensive. So I ordered these. I was surprised when the first pair they sent me in error was not like the picture and had no wool fur. I was afraid they would repeat the mistake with the replacement pair. No very happy, these are fantastic. I had also worried about sizing. My foot measures about size 10.7 but sometimes a size 11 is to snug or to big, with so much variation in sizing I was worried they would be too large or to snug. Since reviews said these ran large but the laces solve that problem, or in case they stretch. I went with the 11. They fit perfect and the wool fur is thick and rich and fantastically comfortable immediately and less then half the cost of the UGG moccasins. The footbed is like a thick memory foam and feels fantastic. Hopefully they will last a long time. EDIT: Sad to say, I had to return these too. After two weeks The stitching between the rubber sole and the leather upper started coming apart. It may have been bad luck. I don't know. Read more
I wear my first pair every day for probably 5 or 6 hours. Mostly worn in doors, but I don't hesitate to walk outside in them. The bottoms are durable rubber, yet still flexible and soft on carpeting. The tops are durable suede leather with heavy cord stitching. The upper material is holding up very well. First pair color is "Camouflage Stony". New pair is in "Chestnut". Both are the same high quality, just a change in color. The inside is lined with sheepskin. Very comfortable, durable and warm. Eventually, after 2 years this is the part of the slipper that shows wear. I wear these every day, so it's no surprise the loft has gone out of the lining. The lining is not worn out, it just lost some of the loft. To be clear, these are my all time favorite slippers. I will continue to buy and wear these as long as they keep selling them and maintain the high quality. They are priced accordingly. Priced a little on the high side for common slippers, but these are not common slippers. You DO get what you pay for. I'm still wearing the first pair and will likely wear them for a long time. They will become my knock around pair and I will start to wear them outside more often. The new pair will become my indoor, kick back and watch TV in comfort pair. I highly recommend these slippers to anyone, and I have recommended these to family and friends. Read more
