Downgrade to 4 stars - a great value, nice looking - like a much pricier watch - and keeps great time BUT with only intermittent use and never exposed to damp or sweat, the watchband fell apart in 5 months. Where it attaches to the pin, it's only the very thin veneer of leather (?) there and there's no way that's going to hold up very long. See the pic. You only get a month to return it so, I'll try gluing it back together but probably end up buying a replacement band. Read more

bought this as a beater-watch. one to wear in situations where i don't want to risk damaging one of my more expensive pieces, and i'm very pleased with the quality on offer at the price. the movement's nothing special, they say it's a japanese quarts, so probably a Miyota, which is a decently reliable movement that keeps time well. construction quality on the housing is good, though given the movement inside it could be a little thinner. the glass is fine, can't expect any better than what you're getting at this price. the design is obviously derivative, but has a nice, classic look. the strap so far seems to be quite good, soft, supple and pliable out of the box. no softening needed. time will tell how durable it is, though the lugs might break first. the only real complaint i have is that the days need to be set every day, as it rotates between chinese and latin script. though that can be ignored if you just don't care that your watch says "saturday" in chinese on what might be a thursday. not the best purchase in the world, but at $22 this is a 5-star watch. Originally, I gave this a 5-star rating. Very nice watch and a great price. However, I bought two watches and the other is working fine and the battery on this watch died in 6 months. A battery should last long than that. So, I thought I could change the battery and be fine. Simple? Not so much. First, there was no obvious spot on the back designed to pry the back off to change the battery. I couldn't do it with my usual watch tools and ended up having to use a straight edge razor blade (dangerous) to slide in and it did pry off. I got the battery replaced, but then I could not get the back back on! My wife and I both tried for 15 minutes and it just would pop on. So, I used the contact the manufacturer/seller option with a promise to have a response in 24-48 hours. It has been 2 weeks and I still haven't heard anything. I found two different phone numbers for contacting them and the first one said the number was disconnected, and the second one just rang and rang and never answered. So, help was non-existent. Amazon was very gracious and offered a one-time refund of the item. Later, to be fair, I tried yet again to get the back on. I was still unsuccessful for about 5 minutes, and finally placed the watch on my soft mousepad and pushed hard straight down with both thumbs (nearly spraining them) and it did pop on finally. If you want all this hassle, go ahead and buy, but buyer beware! Read more

I bought this watch over half a year ago. The watch is in good condition still and I'm very pleased with the look. It looks more valuable than it costs. The band appears to be leather, but it's hard to tell now a day. It is stitched well and is very sturdy. I've accidentally dropped the watch a couple of times and to my delight it caused no damage; not even scratches. The only drawback is that it's a little complicated when trying to change the date or day of the week. It's hard to feel the right position to change them instead of the time. Other than that, I did have to change the battery one, but no big deal. Bottom line - I believe you'll be pleased with the purchase. Hope this helps you. Read more
