This coffee table is perfect for my needs! I love that I - and my 6-year old grandson - can easily and smoothly lift and close the deceptively light weight top, which looks so much like wood, but tap on it and you'll know it's not, which is great, because if it was solid wood, fingers could get smashed! We love that we can lift up to top to have snacks or eat together while watching TV or to play games or cards. It's super easy to wipe clean. I also use it for my work laptop - it's just perfect! Other pluses: nice, solid construction with simple, classic styling and great contrast between the white base and the dark wood-look top. Also, I really love the storage: directly under the lift top are sectioned areas that are great for games, magazines, books, etc. and there are two cabinets with room for pillows, blankets, etc. and a display space between them for whatever suits your fancy. I can't comment on assembly, because I hired someone to do that, which took about an hour and didn't seem difficult. I was able to put this together (think IKEA) and we are currently using it in our game room, but given the weight of this pressed wood product - it will likely be damaged by the time it gets to your house - and even with all the Styrofoam mine ended up with a chip out of one of the doors which is not that visible so I didn’t bother to return it. I cannot imagine trying to return this monstrosity - and of course, with all these types of devices, you end up putting together about halfway realizing that you made a mistake because the directions aren’t always that good and you have to go backwards and redo it. This price was reasonable - but but I’m not sure it was worth the aggravation. Just consider you are rolling the dice when you order this thing as to whether or not it will show up damaged or not, and if it is damaged, it is going to be a real problem trying to get it returned…. In retrospect, it probably should’ve just paid a couple hundred dollars more for one already put together made of real wood…. So a as Clint would say - do you feel lucky today??? Read more

This has got to be one of the best purchases I've made. It looks high-end and I've received many compliments on my coffee table. My daughter was home from college and made quick work of assembling this furniture. The lift top is just the right height for eating, working on my laptop, or video conferencing. It is very solid and heavy, so I've added casters to move it around with ease when vacuuming or needing more space for company. Read more
