Perfect device for the cognitively challenged

Baught this for my mother in law. She is going through the whole cognitive decline stage of life. She is a big music lover, and i needed something as simple as possible for her to operate. This checked every box. Very easy to operate, built with material that feels like it could take a fall and still work. Sounds great. Comes with a micro sd card that you can load a tin of music on. Ports for headphones. Highly recommend this product if you know someone not too savvy with tech. This is the device for them. Read more

I love it

I usually don't leave reviews but I just had to for this. I bought this as a gift for my elderly mom to be able to listen to, and it's been amazing so far. The setup was easy and I appreciate that it comes with the micro SD and USB. Adding songs onto it was easy thanks to some Firefox add-ons and it was all good to go. It's very simple to use thanks to the big buttons and I love how it resumes the song that was playing after it's turned back on. And the skip and go back buttons are great. I'm very happy with this and felt the need to leave a good review. Read more

Great Audio Player for Seniors - Excellent Concept, Works Well, Some Improvements Needed

This is a great concept and overall works really well. I have been wondering why someone had not designed more similar devices for the elderly as modern devices are way too difficult to operate for older people , both because of their unfamiliar design and because of the difficulty of touch and dexterity for arthritic/disabled persons. This seems to be a pretty good design for audio (now can someone please come up with a simple box that does zoom for instance? Make it look like a TV with old fashioned knobs, an answer and hangup button.) I got this for my father and loaded years of old radio shows and songs on it. I created folders for each show (e.g., Gun Smoke, The Shadow, etc.) and put all the mp3 episodes in each folder. It remembers your last position as long as you don't unplug it (which my father always does so this feature will be lost on him). One quick touch of a forward button goes to the next episode of the same show. One long touch of 2-3 seconds goes to the next folder/show. I labeled these using a thermal labeler (next show, etc.) POSITIVES: Controls - The buttons are easy for older folks: a big on/off, a left button for back, a right button for forward, and a dial for volume. Press 2-3 seconds on the forward button and it goes to the next folder on the drive (vice-versa for the back button). Tap just once on the forward button and it goes to the next episode in the folder it currently is in. So for example, I had 20-30 old time radio shows, each having it's own folder and all episodes for each show in the respective folder. To run find the show you want, long press in sequence to get to the show (e.g., Gun Smoke), then quick tap to get to the episode you want. You could do the same for albums/songs with each folder named after an album and all the songs for an album in the respective folder. Volume and Sound quality: Is actually very decent. Last Position Memory: Remembers Last Song position when turned off. But not if it is unplugged. CONS: Expense: Should be half the price I paid. I found a few much better looking (looked like retro radios) and conceivably better designed (used usb flash drives) competitors for 1/6 the price elsewhere but did not have time to buy and test them. Look - Rather bland looking. Micro SD Card Only - Should have been a USB Flash drive port either USB -A or USB-C The use of a micro SD Card is disappointing or at least not having the option of using just a USB flash drive. If it just had a plain USB A female port and/or USB C port for use by a flash drive would have been much better design - older folks that this i targeted to are never going to have the dexterity to get the SD card out. If it was a USB flash I could have instructed my dad to pull out the drive, put it in his laptop and then I could remote in and modify. There's no way for me to do that with this design. Play Order/Navigating Songs/Shows: I organized my radio shows by creating one folder on the SD card for each show and put the episodes of each show in each folder. You could do the same for albums/songs. But I discovered there is no rhyme or reason as to the order in which the folders are cycled through so no ability to put the shows/albums in the order you want. It doesn't seem to be based on alphabetical or time stamps. I was able to force it to play the episodes within a folder by creating a .m3u8 playlist (what vlc uses), putting that in the folder, and putting the episodes in a subfolder of the shows folder ( So directory structure something like this: "The Shadow"/the_shadow.m3u8 "the Shadow"/shadow_episodes with all the mp3s in shadow_episodes. make sure your m3u8 playlist correctly references the path to the mp3s in the subfolder.) You could probably solve the issue with the folder/album/show order I mentioned above using playlists also but I didn't have time to figure that out. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about regarding playlists and folders or think this looks too complicated you can still just dump all the mp3s you want onto the SD card without any subfolders or playlists it just won't play in a specific order. One last note, it is rather larger much bigger than I imagined. That could be a positive as it is fairly heavy and sturdy but may be bigger than what you want on a night table for instance. Overall an excellent concept but could have been better. Read more

Great for stage 6 ALZ family member who loves listening to music

I don't write many reviews, but my husband with stage 6 ALZ loves this product. We loaded 6 of his favorite CD's, and he can turn it on and off whenever he wants. I like that it starts where the music stopped so he can listen to all the CD's. Hopefully it holds up. Had to delete the pre-loaded music. Read more
