An expensive, but fantastic tooth brush for enthusiasts and amateurs alike!

I've been using the Oral-B Pulsar tooth brush for almost 4 years now. I've always loved the pseudo-electric functionality of this toothbrush. The vibration of the head doesn't really seem to make a difference in the actual brushing action, but when I compare results between the Pulsar and other brushes, I always come back to the Pulsar. Whenever my Pulsar gets worn out, I scramble to get another. And when I'm forced to use another brush, I always make a second brushing with my Pulsar as soon as possible for it always leaves me with a noticeably different feeling of clean and level of whiteness. My favorite toothbrush, offset by battery issues.

Like some have noted, the battery in these units may come somewhat discharged. As a result you may not get the desired usage out of the product. Taking out the battery typically results in bending of the metal connector that serves to push the battery towards the on/off switch. However, if you search around on youtube, there is a clip where it is explained how to replace the battery. I found an easier solution is to bend it back with tweezers. I usually get 2 batteries' worth of life out of the brush before I feel it is time to throw it out. On the plus side, I really like the compactness of the brush over it's rechargeable counterparts. I like the both the fact that the handle is slim, making it easier to hold, and the head is small. I also feel that the brush is really effective in dislodging stuck food bits that would normally require flossing thanks, I think, to the rubber bristles at the sides. I recommend that you give the product a try in the 1 pack size. Oral B also has a satisfaction/refund policy though I have not had occasion to use it. Read more

Problems with battery

The brush is ok when it is working. Unfortunately they are often sold with an old discharged battery. This brush was not designed for battery replacement. Usually if you try to replace the battery you damage the electrical contacts and all thing becomes useless. Read more

Snapped in half!!

My kids use sonic toothbrushes and they were recommended by our dentist. So when I saw the 4-pack Oral-B Pulsar toothbrushes on sale, I figured it was a great opportunity to start using sonic brushes. And unlike the ones my kids use, this one doesn't require changing out batteries. What could be better? Turns out anything could've been better. Three of the four brushes SNAPPED IN HALF barely half-way into the life of the bristles! All 3 snapped at the same place-the connector between the head and the colorful sonic base. It's no fun to be brushing when it snaps off in your mouth! The jarring movement even bled me on one occasion. After the first time, I thought it was a fluke, you know, one flawed brush. But when the second one did the same, I knew something was wrong. I figured the the vibrating action must be jarring the connection between the head and base (which is thin and flimsy, by the way). So when I used the third brush, I completely ignored the sonic option (the whole point of plunking down for the higher cost in the first place!) and just used it as a regular toothbrush. The result? It just snapped yesterday in our hotel room during our family vacation. The kids thought it was funny, but I didn't. I had to go to a gas station mini-mart to get one of those travel toothbrushes as a substitute. What about the fourth brush? I threw it away today. I don't care how much of a waste of money it was. I don't want to experience that SNAP! feeling of the brush breaking in my mouth ever again. Read more

This 3 pack was also the same price as just one of these in CVS. This is a no brainer. Read more
