I've been old school brushing my entire life and a recent visit to my dentist got him to suggest that I try an electric toothbrush. He didn't suggest one in particular, he just recommended the Oral-B brand. After a lot of research, I chose this one based on the fact that it was very cost effective, the replacement heads were reasonably priced, it is completely waterproof so it can be used on the tub/shower, and most of all, it has a 2 minute shut-off timer (which is what is recommended by the ADA for total brushing time) with 30 second reminders to switch brushing areas (they recommend you brush upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right for 30 seconds each totaling 2 minutes). It also has a pressure type gauge letting you know when you apply too much pressure which could injure your gums. I've only used it a few times but I must admit what a difference over normal brushing. Please note that this is a "bare bones" type of unit without all of the bells and whistles for a budget-friendly minded individual, but is basically the same great base product that you could spend upwards of $300 or more. I purchased mine for approximately $45 and it came with one head and a charger. It was also fully charged upon arrival ready for use. I will update this review if I have anything else to add. Only lasted a year and then just died. Tied it on a diffrent charging base for the same bursh and it wont charge. Its bot the base because the base will charge other oral b tooth brushes the actual tooth brush itself just wont turn on or even try to charge. And of course I just bought a big pack of replacement heads for it. Waste of money. Also if you do get it make sure your cleaning it well or it gets a build up where the tooth brush attaches. First bought it for myself and then for my wife. Love it! Long time ago I had oral b, then it broke and I decided to try overhyped Sonicare. Sonicare gives a lot of vibration and wouldn't clean well back teeth for some reason. So I decided to go back to Oral B. New model has way less vibration and definitely more efficient! I immediately bought the same model for my wife. Even my wife told me that noticed that her teeth got whiter! She loves this toothbrush as well! Battery life good as well, I would at least 5 days.
