This car charger is super convenient and well made. I love having two sockets with individual switches, plus USB and Type-C ports so I can run my radar , baby camera & charge multiple devices at once. The voltage display is a great bonus and makes it easy to keep an eye on my battery. It’s compact, rotates easily. Works perfectly and feels very safe—highly recommend! Read more

This charger works flawlessly after 2 years and I love how well it works! It has never drained my battery and fit perfectly into my center console. I've never heard it rattle or shake and the build quality in my opinion is very good for the price. Charges all my devices easily and fits out of the way so I have a clean look in my Honda. Highly recommended this product!! Read more

I just purchased the Otium USB C Car Charger, 2 Sockets Cigarette Lighter Splitter 12/24V 80W Dual USB Type-C Ports; in having Separate Switch LED Voltage Display Built-in Replaceable w/10A Fuse. Eighty (80W) is sufficient for my usage of a dash cam, more than enough. My vehicle can handle up to 240 watts in having a 20 amp fuse for the 12 v dc cigar lighter. This leaves me much room to add additional items without the worry of overpowering. The unit is well constructed and has solid state capacitors, providing a longer life, that will allow the unit to run cooler. Input circuit power management is certainly a plus while incorporating overload, short circuit, over current, over voltage, and overheating protection. The unit was purchased from Amazon through Otium Direct, so I cannot speak of other suppliers. A five year warranty is attached to the USB Charger / Splitter, so there really should not be any concerns. Some suppliers only have a one year warranty. This is why I purchased through Otium Direct to obtain the five year warranty. The led car battery display is an added bonus that can be very useful in determining the state of the vehicles battery. A 10 amp fuse stop located in the splitter provides additional protection should any circuit be overloaded. This fuse will create an open circuit well before reaching any part of the vehicles fuse box. Without the fuse stop, I would not purchase. Some other USB Charger units employ Bussmann ‘Glass’ (Tube) fuses (fragile), while this Otium USB Charger uses Bussman Blade fuses (Standard) which are easier to read amperage values, and easier to remove. I believe that there are some aftermarket blade fuses that ‘Glow’ when they burn out. These are finer points that are subjective based upon personal preference. * A point of interest is if one should turn “off” the switch prior to starting the vehicle. One should definitely turn off both switches (buttons) before starting the car. A powerful current is generated instantaneously when the car engine starts, which may cause this product to short-circuit, or burn down. This is extremely important to keep in mind. Should you follow my advice, this Otium unit shall last a long time. I have a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a constant ‘on’ for the cigarette (cigar) lighter. Naturally, I could splice a few wires to have a switched circuit but prefer a constant on. The Otium splitter will remedy the constant on in the cigarette lighter in switching the power off, whereby I can use a dash cam merely by pushing a button; either “on” or “off”. I could hardwire the dash cam to bypass the splitter but again prefer the use of the cigarette lighter for ease of access. Basically, that is what I’m using the splitter for, a dash cam. The ‘On’ and ‘Off’ buttons have positive clicks: the 12V DC Cigarette Lighter Power Supply inserts nicely having a snug fit, and easy to remove. There is no movement or play once inserted. The adjustable arm of the power supply rotates easily and remains in the position with no play. There have been some mentioning of the power end of the supply not inserting into a 12V DC socket properly. We just do not see this at all. Some have mentioned that the supply arm: (rotatable), does not stay at the position moved. Again, we do not see this at all. The blue light is a nice feature and turns ‘off’ when releasing the button switch. The ABS plastic seems very durable, as the Otium splitter seems to be most sturdy and of good quality. The fuse location on the unit is placed just below, making easy access for removal. In using a dash cam, the unit turns off the dash cam as expected, and automatically turns the dash cam on when activating the switch. The switches seem to be very well made. (1.) Jack (Cigar Lighter) 12V: Switched vs. Constant ON: In switched mode where the power is cut completely "OFF" to the 12V cigar lighter, there is no current draw. One can leave the USB Charger plugged in indefinitely with no issues of draining the battery. (2.) In constant "ON" where the cigar lighter socket remains in an active state, the USB charger will still draw some standby current which shall not drain or kill the car battery ‘UNLESS’ one leaves their vehicle sitting for an extended period of time; about four months. So, there are really no worries as to, "Will the USB Charger Kill My Battery When Left Plugged In?" > the answer is "NO", irrespective on having the vehicle sit idle for long periods as mentioned above. To sum up this review, I do not see any negative drawbacks regarding any feature of the Otium splitter 12V DC. Otium is ranked at the top with Bestek. However, I chose Otium with the features that apply to my usage (dash cam). As far as charging is concerned, I’m sure the Otium charges well. I did not purchase for the charging but may have use for the ports in the future which are allocated at 2.4 amps. Should I decide to charge my dash cam in the 12V DC port, the charge shall be at the desired rate I’m seeking: ‘a slow charge’ > not fast. One never wishes to fast charge a dash cam, not ever. Some have claimed a slow charging feature for phones, which is irrelevant to me. People always seem to be in a hurry to charge their phones. Phones should be charged slowly as the charging incorporates two stages. To push or try to fast charge will bypass the second stage. It may show 100% charged but in reality it may be around 80%. While fast charging is convenient, charging your device’s battery at a slower rate will not only generate less heat and stress the battery less, but will also be better for the battery’s prolonged health. Remember, “heat” kills batteries and fast charging may be detrimental to one’s battery. So, all who are claiming of a ‘slow’ charge rate, know nothing, nothing at all. Some new processors may support fast charging but there is always the ’heat’ factor. Slow charging shall prolong not only your circuitry, but also the battery. My field of expertise has been in electronics, namely a radio technician for forty years. You can heed the advice I’ve stated or listen to all those claiming to be experts. Purchase right here at Otium Direct or take your chances with other USB Chargers. * We would highly recommend the Otium USB Car Charger. Read more

I recently upgraded the Bluetooth FM transmitter in my old Chevy Avalanche, not realizing that the new transmitter has no on/off switch. My truck’s power outlets are powered ALL the time, even when the ignition switch is off. I didn’t like the thought of constantly plugging/unplugging the tight fitting transmitter because it would eventually cause damage to the power outlet. I already replaced both outlets last year and that job was a pain. This Otium device solved the problem because each of its sockets is equipped with its own on/off switch. It seems to be sturdy and well made. It’s also and has extra features like USB charging ports and a digital voltage display. Time well tell if my initial reactions are correct, but for now I’m very pleased. Read more

I love how each plug receptacle has it's own off and on switch. It also shows how much battery power is available. The plug is hinged which is nice. Great unit. Read more
